Giants | Want John Jerry to make run at starting spot

Wed, 02 Jul 2014 14:40:09 -0700

The New York Giants would like OL John Jerry to make a run at the starting lineup in training camp. "Well, you know, we signed John in the offseason and I say that we signed him and he signed with us for the opportunity to be a starter for the New York Giants," offensive line coach Pat Flaherty said. So where do I see him? I see him plugging right in and seeing how quickly he can make up the time he lost in the last couple weeks."

Giants | Coach wants Justin Pugh to stay at right tackle

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 10:28:32 -0700

New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty wants to keep OT Justin Pugh at right tackle. "I don't see wiggle room," Flaherty said Thursday. "Matter of fact, somebody -- not anybody with anything to do with decision-making -- asked me, 'Would you experiment with him?' Why experiment? He's a starting right tackle. Do I need to move him over to left guard? He's a starting right tackle. I tell the offensive linemen: 'You're a starter. You have a position. You earned that position. To move you has got to be to help the football team."

Wed, 03 Jul 2013 11:47:56 -0700

New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty said OG Chris Snee (hip) and C David Baas (elbow) are doing everything they can to be back on the field. "I think they're going to be ready," Flaherty said. "They're out there. They're doing what they can do on the field right now. In the classroom they're doing everything they need to do. They're focused. They've seen all of the cutups. They've actually done extra work in the classroom when they couldn't be on the field. I anticipate them being ready for training camp."

Giants | Coach praises Justin Pugh

Wed, 03 Jul 2013 11:46:45 -0700

New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty praised rookie OT Justin Pugh. "He's working extremely hard," Flaherty said of Pugh. "He comes to work every day. He's still finding some things out about the NFL, which he will continue to do for a long time. But he's conscientious, he gives good effort. He's a guy that wants to learn football, wants to learn the techniques of the NFL as much as anyone."
