Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Ryan Day, former New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, former Philadelphia Eagles defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro and former Philadelphia Eagles defensive quality control coach Michael Clay have rounded out the San Francisco 49ers' coaching staff. Day, Flaherty and Azzinaro will have the same roles, while Clay will serve as a special teams assistant.

The New York Giants would like OL John Jerry to make a run at the starting lineup in training camp. "Well, you know, we signed John in the offseason and I say that we signed him and he signed with us for the opportunity to be a starter for the New York Giants," offensive line coach Pat Flaherty said. So where do I see him? I see him plugging right in and seeing how quickly he can make up the time he lost in the last couple weeks."

The New York Giants are not sure who will be the starting left tackle at this point, according to offensive line coach Pat Flaherty. "As of today, no, we probably don't," Flaherty said. "But we're not playing today. We have some time. But as we get closer to training camp and we get into training camp, as the old saying goes, the walls are closing in."

New York Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty wants to keep OT Justin Pugh at right tackle. "I don't see wiggle room," Flaherty said Thursday. "Matter of fact, somebody -- not anybody with anything to do with decision-making -- asked me, 'Would you experiment with him?' Why experiment? He's a starting right tackle. Do I need to move him over to left guard? He's a starting right tackle. I tell the offensive linemen: 'You're a starter. You have a position. You earned that position. To move you has got to be to help the football team."

"I think they're going to be ready," Flaherty said. "They're out there. They're doing what they can do on the field right now. In the classroom they're doing everything they need to do. They're focused. They've seen all of the cutups. They've actually done extra work in the classroom when they couldn't be on the field. I anticipate them being ready for training camp."

He's still finding some things out about the NFL, which he will continue to do for a long time. But he's conscientious, he gives good effort. He's a guy that wants to learn football, wants to learn the techniques of the NFL as much as anyone."
