Updating previous reports, according to Buccaneers.com, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Justin Skaggs (hamstring) may miss a significant amount of time during training camp after injuring his hamstring. "I don't think it's as bad as initially feared," said head coach Jon Gruden. "But, again, wide receivers and hamstrings are not a real good marriage, so it will be about a week, I think, being conservative. We'll see what happens. You have to be cautious with a receiver, in particular."

Buccaneers.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Justin Skaggs has been working to secure a spot on the roster by handling kickoff duties. Skaggs, who handled kickoffs and long field goal attempts in college, has been told he will handle kickoffs during the preseason. Skaggs is trying to get his kickoffs consistently in the 4.0-second hang-time range and dropping them down near the goal line. He has been told to focus on hang time, and his average has been right around the four-second mark. With Skaggs on the roster as a receiver and kicker, the Buccaneers do not have to cut a position player to make room for an additional kicker behind Buccaneers PK Martin Gramatica.
