The Charlotte Observer reports the Carolina Panthers have released QB Brett Basanez, RB DeCori Birmingham, S Joe Fields, FB Troy Fleming, WR Chris Hannon, DT Nick Hayden, OG Evan Mathis, DE Stanley McClover, OG Reuben Riley, OT Geoffrey Schwartz, LB Tim Shaw, CB Darren Toney, TE Chad Upshaw and DL Stephen Williams from the team. The team also terminated the contracts of OG Milford Brown, CB Ricardo Colclough, OG Toniu Fonoti, S Terrence Holt, WR Samie Parker, WR Travis Taylor and RB LaBrandon Toefield.
