Minnesota Vikings QB Brad Childress defended his decision to trade QB Sage Rosenfels to the New York Giants and keep QB Tarvaris Jackson as the backup, according to Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Childress became testy when asked how comfortable he would be if QB Joe Webb had to be inserted into a game if something happened to both QB Brett Favre and Jackson. "I'm not going to deal in hypotheticals," Childress said. "I'm done with the backup quarterback. I'm done with it. You guys, if that's all you've got to write, good Lord. We're talking about the two highest-scoring offenses (the Vikings and New Orleans Saints) in the league last year playing each other. Let's talk about the game..."

"Just rotating him around a little bit. We try to expose all those guys to all situations and it wouldn't be uncommon for you to see here or in training camp where you're trying to expose two quarterbacks and shutting (another) guy down for a day," head coach Brad Childress said. "I really wouldn't make anything of that other than we were trying to expose those other three quarterbacks to some of that red area stuff and some of that blitz stuff yesterday."
