Atlanta Braves C Tyler Flowers (hand) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, July 15, and in a corresponding move, C Anthony Recker was recalled from Class AAA Gwinnett.

Fantasy Tip: Recker and A.J. Pierzynski will likely split time behind the plate with Flowers out, but neither player has much fantasy value.

Braves | Tyler Flowers has broken hand

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 14:09:26 -0700

Atlanta Braves C Tyler Flowers (hand) has been diagnosed with a broken hand and will miss at least six weeks. C Anthony Recker likely will be recalled from Class AAA Gwinnett when Flowers is placed on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: A.J. Pierzynski likely will receive more starts with Flowers sidelined for multiple weeks. He is hitting only .205 with zero home runs and 18 RBI this season and is not a strong option. Owners in NL-only leagues could consider adding Recker if they need help at the position.

Braves | Tyler Flowers pulled from game Saturday

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 12:36:59 -0700

Atlanta Braves C Tyler Flowers (hand) left the game against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, July 9, in the bottom of the second inning with a strained left hand. He was replaced by C A.J. Pierzynski.

Fantasy Tip: The injury was apparently one that was developing as the game progressed, as Flowers waved off the dugout before his first at-bat and Pierzynski was prepared to take the field. More details should follow shortly, but Flowers has been a quality low-end fantasy backstop this season, batting .253 with seven homers and 21 RBI.

Braves | Atlanta resting two players

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 08:52:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson and C A.J. Pierzynski are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Saturday, July 9. 2B Gordon Beckham will start at second base and is batting second, while C Tyler Flowers will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is hitting .303 with one home run and two RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and can be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Flowers is hitting only .214 over the last seven days and should only be used in two-catcher leagues.

Braves | Jace Peterson back in lineup Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:12:38 -0700

Atlanta Braves 2B Jace Peterson is back in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Saturday, July 2, with INF/OF Chase d'Arnaud batting second and playing center field. In addition, C A.J. Pierzynski will hit seventh and start behind the plate, while OF Emilio Bonifacio hits eighth and plays left field. OFs Jeff Francoeur and Ender Inciarte and C Tyler Flowers are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Peterson is batting .393 in 28 at-bats over the past week and is hitting .348 with a home run and six RBI in just 23 at-bats versus the Fish this season, so he's worth considering in DFS as a source of productive cap relief. D'artaud, Pierzynski and Bonifacio can be ignored in DFS this afternoon.

Braves | Atlanta resting two players

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 14:00:33 -0700

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski and OF Emilio Bonifacio are not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Monday, June 27. C Tyler Flowers will start in catcher and is batting sixth in the lineup, while OF Brandon Snyder will start in left field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Flowers is hitting .211 with two home runs and three RBI this month but does have three hits in his last two games. Flowers will have value in two-catcher leagues, but owners in other leagues should find better options. Snyder has gone 4-for-15 since joining the Braves but is not a strong option.
