The Baltimore Orioles bullpen has retired all 19 batters it has faced in the current series against the Tampa Bay Rays. RP's Jim Johnson, Luis Ayala, Pedro Strop and Darren O'Day have combined for a perfect 6 1/3 innings, recording 12 groundouts, three flyouts and four strikeouts.

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day won the final spot in the bullpen over RP Zach Phillips, who will begin the year with Triple-A Norfolk. RP Troy Patton won the other bullpen spot. SP Brian Matusz officially was named to the roster, and he'll start Monday, April 9.

The Baltimore Orioles outrighted OF Jai Miller to Triple-A Norfolk after he cleared waivers Tuesday, April 3. Ps Darren O'Day, Zach Phillips, Troy Patton and Tsuyoshi Wada are battling for the final two roster spots.

Baltimore Orioles SPs Jake Arrieta and Jason Hammel will oppose each other in the team's intrasquad game Friday, March 2. Other pitchers will include Kevin Gregg, Matt Lindstrom, Brian Matusz, Alfredo Simon, Dana Eveland, Darren O'Day, Pedro Strop, Zach Phillips, Brad Bergesen, Troy Patton and Miguel Socolovich. Arrieta and Hammel are also expected to pitch in the March 8 spring game against the Atlanta Braves.

The Baltimore Orioles avoided arbitration with RP Darren O'Day Monday, Jan. 16, agreeing to a $1.35 million deal. SP Dana Eveland agreed to a one-year, $750,000 deal.

The Baltimore Orioles offered a contract to SP Brad Bergesen Monday, Dec. 12, as well as to arbitration-eligible Ps Dana Eveland, Jeremy Guthrie, Jim Johnson and Darren O'Day. INF Robert Andino and OF Adam L. Jones were also offered contracts.

Texas Rangers RP Darren O'Day (shoulder) has been throwing off a mound, and he is now ready to pitch without any restrictions. "He will be used however we feel he needs to be used," manager Ron Washington said.
