Orioles | Darren O'Day activated

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 12:28:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day likely will not receive many save opportunities with Zach Britton in the bullpen but should still be a decent option in deeper mixed leagues because of his holds.

Orioles | Darren O'Day could return soon

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 14:44:07 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list Sunday, July 24, or Monday, July 25, and manager Buck Showalter will ease him back into his late-inning role. O'Day will pitch for Class AA Bowie Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Zach Britton is one of the best fantasy closer for the O's, so unless he's hurt, O'Day isn't seeing any save chances anytime soon. However, the sidearmer has been excellent for the O's in the back end of the bullpen in recent years and can be a ratios stabilizer in deeper formats.

Orioles | Darren O'Day continues rehab

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:33:03 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) continued rehab on flat ground Friday, July 8, and he will go to Sarasota during the All-Star break to continue work. He will rejoin the Orioles in Tampa Bay following the break.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day's return will bring needed bullpen depth back to Baltimore. He has a decent walk/strikeout ratio (9/25) as well as two saves and a 2-1 record. O'Day should be played where possible once he is activated. He could be a closer candidate if Zach Britton goes down, and his ratios are very good.

Orioles | Darren O'Day not progressing

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 23:40:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 3. Manager Buck Showalter was reportedly pessimistic about O'Day being able to throw a bullpen session when the team is in Los Angeles early next week.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day is a quality setup man worth using in all rotisserie fantasy formats for help in the ERA and WHIP categories when healthy. He also helps those in formats which reward holds.

Orioles | Darren O'Day to throw Saturday

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 19:51:47 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) is scheduled to throw off a full mound Saturday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day is 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA through 22 appearances this year, with nine walks and 25 strikeouts over 20 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander remains worthy of stashing in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues which use the holds category if you can afford the roster space.

Orioles | No timetable for Darren O'Day

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 15:00:39 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) hasn't throw off a mound yet and doesn't know when he'll be cleared to do so, which makes it unlikely he'll come off the disabled list when eligible Sunday, June 19. O'Day said there remains no timetable for his return. His leg didn't feel much better Thursday, June 16, and he remains day-to-day. O'Day is also likely to require a brief rehab assignment before returning.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day has been lights out for the O's in the last several years in an eighth-inning setup role, and he's sporting a 3.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and has 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings this year. He's not worth stashing in shallow mixed leagues, but he has utility in deeper formats when healthy as a ratio stabilizer.

Orioles | Darren O'Day might not be ready

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 20:37:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) might not be ready to come off the 15-day disabled list Sunday, June 19, when he is eligible.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day has been one of the most dependable late-inning relievers over the past few seasons, and he is an attractive fantasy option in formats which rewards holds. Wait to see him officially return and prove his health in an appearance or two without any setbacks before relying upon him again.

Orioles | Darren O'Day recovering slowly

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:04:13 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) is moving slow in his recovery from injury, according to manager Buck Showalter. He will also need a couple of rehab outings.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day has been one of the best late-inning relievers in all of baseball the past few years, and he can be especially useful in leagues that score holds, but this news doesn't sound very promising for the veteran right-hander. When he gets back, he'll resume set-up duty, but he could possibly be facing a lengthy absence based on this development.

Orioles | Darren O'Day not close to returning

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 17:13:50 -0700

Baltimore Orioles RP Darren O'Day (hamstring) has resumed throwing on flat ground but has not progressed to throwing off a mound. There is no established timetable for his return from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: O'Day is 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA in 22 appearances this season, with nine walks and 25 strikeouts over 20 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander should remain stashed in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues because of his ratios if you can afford the roster space.
