Cardinals | No Randal Grichuk Monday

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 14:54:51 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (groin) is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 27. OF Peter Bourjos is starting in center field and hitting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has been playing very sparingly lately as a bench option, and he's hitting only .184 (7-for-38) with no home runs and three RBI in July. Bourjos is valuable for his speed, but he hasn't been getting on base enough to make him a viable fantasy option.

Cardinals | Jason Heyward to sit out

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 10:55:24 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Jason Heyward is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Jon Niese Sunday, July 19. OF Randal Grichuk will start in right field and is batting second, while OF Peter Bourjos will start in center field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Heyward ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) usually sits out when the team faces a left-handed pitcher, so he should return to the lineup soon. Bourjos ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is hitting only .188 this month and is not a great starting option on FantasyScore.

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 12:59:21 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Peter Bourjos will bat eighth and play center field against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Sunday, July 12. OF Tommy Pham is getting the night off.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is 8-for-26 (.308) against Liriano in his career with three doubles, a triple and three RBIs. He's worthy of consideration as an inexpensive outfield option in FantasyScore tonight.

Cardinals | Peter Bourjos leading off

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 11:37:51 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Peter Bourjos is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Thursday, July 9.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is mainly attractive to fantasy owners because of his speed, and he gains daily value atop the Cards' lineup. He has both of his home runs against lefties, too, but he's hitting .222 (10-for-45) against them this year. Bourjos profiles as a decent sleeper pick as one of your outfielders tonight.

Cardinals | Peter Bourjos at leadoff

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 15:19:07 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Peter Bourjos is starting in center field and hitting leadoff against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Tuesday, June 30. OF Jon Jay is on the bench against the left-handed hurler.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will benefit from more at-bats in the leadoff spot. Unfortunately, he only has six hits in 27 at-bats in June and is mainly useful for daily gamers because of his speed. He's also only hitting .237 (9-for-38) against left-handers this season, and Sale is among one of the toughest he'll face.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) had gone 1-for-3 with a double in back-to-back games before being held hitless Thursday, June 18. Bourjos is hitting .261 against right-handed pitching this season, but he doesn't have much of an upside on FantasyScore. Owners can do better in this price range.

Cardinals | Peter Bourjos playing Sunday

Sun, 31 May 2015 11:08:30 -0700

Bourjos had been scheduled to get the day off but was added to the lineup when OF Matt Holliday (illness) was scratched and OF Randall Grichuk was moved from center field to left field.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is only batting .259 on the season but he's hitting .333 at home, as opposed to .186 on the road. He makes an intriguing, low-cost outfield option in FantasyScore today.
