Kyle McClellan Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Kyle McClellan MLB and fantasy baseball news
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 19:43:23 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (ribcage) is throwing off the mound in the bullpen, as he continues to rehab in extended spring training due to a strained rib cage muscle.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:37:46 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (arm) is expected to throw live batting practice in the next seven to 10 days. RP Kyle McClellan (lat) should be back on a mound by May 1. Fantasy Tip: Now that Matt Harrison (back) is out until after the All-Star break, Perez has a realistic shot at regaining a spot in the starting rotation when he's ready. Nick Tepesch and Justin Grimm are holding down the final two spots currently, but Perez is arguably better and has a higher ceiling than both of those hurlers. Keep Perez on your radar, especially in AL-only formats.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 12:26:56 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Neftali Feliz (elbow) is throwing from 105 feet Tuesday, April 16, and RP Kyle McClellan (lat) is throwing from 120 feet.
Mon, 25 Mar 2013 13:06:55 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (lat) is two weeks into a projected three to four week period of inactivity with a strained right lat muscle. He'll start long tossing and doing flat-ground work when he's cleared. SP Martin Perez (arm) has been cleared to start a throwing program when he's pain-free. He's not wearing a protective brace on his arm and hopes to start throwing next week. RP Joakim Soria (elbow) should start throwing live batting practice the week of April 8. SP Colby Lewis (elbow) is on the same time frame as Soria barring any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: Lewis is the best fantasy option of the bunch if you can stash him on the DL for the first month of the season in deep enough mixed leagues.
Mon, 18 Mar 2013 14:04:34 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (rib cage) will remain with the team, even though he'll miss six to eight weeks with a strained rib cage muscle. He could trigger his out clause in his contract but said he wants to remain with the club and rehab. Fantasy Tip: When healthy, McClellan could be a swing man for the back end of the rotation, but he's more likely to be used as a long relief option. Don't consider him with a fantasy baseball selection.
Sat, 16 Mar 2013 18:05:57 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (lat) has been diagnosed with a strained right lat muscle. He may not be able to resume throwing for another three to four weeks.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 12:29:20 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (shoulder) made his spring debut Thursday, March 14, and tossed two scoreless innings. McClellan showed no rust during the outing, and he'll likely be stretched out to compete for the fifth spot in the rotation.
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 17:55:14 -0700 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (shoulder) threw batting practice Saturday, March 9, and reported no soreness Sunday, March 10. He is scheduled to make his Cactus League spring debut Tuesday, March 12.
Sun, 03 Mar 2013 21:22:59 -0800 Texas Rangers Ps Justin Grimm, Kyle McClellan, Robbie Ross and Randy Wells are each considered internal candidates for the fifth rotation spot, and their chances improved Sunday, March 3, when leading candidate SP Martin Perez (forearm) suffered a fractured forearm.
Mon, 25 Feb 2013 13:00:54 -0800 Texas Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (shoulder) is now behind the other pitchers in camp but still has a chance to be ready by opening day. He won't test his sore shoulder with a bullpen session until Wednesday, Feb. 27, and will need to throw another bullpen before live batting practice and games.
