Mon, 02 Jul 2007 13:45:10 -0700 The Associated Press reports unrestricted free-agent LB LaVar Arrington (arm, leg, wrist) was released from the hospital Monday, July 2. Arrington was involved in a motorcycle accident in Washington about two weeks ago, resulting in broken bones in one of his arms, legs and wrists.
Thu, 28 Jun 2007 12:10:00 -0700 David Elfin, of the Washington Times, reports unrestricted free-agent LB LaVar Arrington (arm, leg, wrist) is still in the hospital after his motorcycle accident. It has also been confirmed by Carl Poston, Arrington's agent, that Arrington also suffered a broken wrist in the accident. Some reports have indicated Arrington has an infection from cuts he suffered as well as a torn tendon and carpal tunnel-like symptoms in his wrist. Poston and Arrington's attorney, Rosalyn Pugh, deny the infection and the other wrist injuries.
Fri, 22 Jun 2007 10:24:20 -0700 Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports free-agent LB LaVar Arrington (arm, leg) will remain in hospital at least through the rest of the week as a precaution following his motorcycle accident Monday, June 18, according to his lawyer, Rosalyn Pugh. Arrington has already had one surgical procedure to repair his fractured forearm and has deep lacerations that require care as well. Concern over infection is the primary reason Arrington will remain hospitalized.

"He's doing great, all of his vital signs are good. They want to keep him as a precaution, and he's not going to be able to walk for a while, but he's doing well," said Poston.

One of the citations was for driving a motorcycle without a proper license and the other was for the accident itself. Arrington was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred and no alcohol was involved, according to Maryland State Police Sgt. Russell Newell.

The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Poston said Arrington broke a bone in one of his arms and three bones in one of his legs.

"Me and the trainers have been working our tails off. (Assistant Athletic Trainer) Byron Hansen and I have been really diligent on getting my legs back together. I feel really strong and in good spirits. From what the doctors say and what the trainers say, I'll have a full recovery. I'll be ready for mini-camp in June and stuff like that. I'll be working out with the guys this offseason, so I'm excited. My legs feel much better than I had anticipated, so that's a bonus," said Arrington. He plans to remain in New Jersey throughout the entire offseason to work with the team's trainers.
Wed, 06 Dec 2006 22:25:33 -0800 The Associated Press reports New York Giants LB LaVar Arrington equated the players union with organized crime Wednesday, Dec. 6, a day before he was scheduled to testify before Congress at a hearing for his former agent, Carl Poston. Poston was suspended by the NFLPA for his handling of the contract Arrington signed with the Washington Redskins near the end of the 2003 season. Arrington believes the union acted unfairly by suspending Poston. "They suspended him without a hearing, the NFLPA. If you are educated and you pay attention to what is going on around you, they do a lot of foul stuff. It's like organized crime, to be honest with you. They are bad," Arrington said. Union head Gene Upshaw believes he is protecting not only Arrington, but other players by suspending Poston. "When we got into this, we did it to protect LaVar. I couldn't care less about Poston. I felt we'll take care of him [Poston] later, and we did."

NFL Players Association general counsel Richard Berthelsen, a law professor and Arrington were on a "tentative witness list" e-mailed by House Judiciary Committee press secretary Terry Shawn to the Associated Press. The Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law has scheduled an oversight hearing for Thursday, Dec. 7, to examine the NFLPA's arbitration process. Lawmakers will look into the NFLPA's suspension of Poston stemming from his handling of a contract Arrington signed with the Washington Redskins near the end of the 2003 season.

"People want to hate on the Giants," he said. "I've heard negative statements about Eli, about the defense. 'Who's going to be the biggest flop this year?' They say the .Giants. They hate us. They really hate on the Giants. I guess it's a great situation because people have always hated on me." ESPN analyst and former Pittsburgh Steelers RB Merril Hoge set off Arrington. According to Arrington, Hoge ripped him recently, which "really broke my heart. I go way back with this guy." Arrington said Hoge questioned whether the linebacker will fit in with head coach Tom Coughlin.
