Cartwright said some cartilage pulled away from bone in his rib cage, which is very sore. Cartwright is undeterred about trying to play Saturday, Aug. 9.

Jason Reid, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins have reached an agreement on a contract with free-agent RB Rock Cartwright (Redskins). Terms of the deal were not announced, but a team source said the contract is for three years and worth $3.35 million with $500,000 guaranteed. Cartwright will receive base salaries of $605,000 (2008), $745,000 (2009) and $1.5 million (2010). He received a $300,000 signing bonus and will receive a $200,000 roster bonus.
