Mon, 17 Jun 2013 14:56:29 -0700 New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter (ankle) did tee-and-toss, took 15 batting practice swings, long toss, fielded 20 ground balls and threw to first base Monday, June 17. OF Curtis Granderson (hand) played long toss and will have the pin in his hand removed Wednesday, June 19. He'll move to strengthening exercises for a week after that and then swing a bat. SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) did tee-and-toss and took grounders Monday. The team hopes he's playing with either Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or the big league team by mid-July. C Francisco Cervelli (hand) will swing underwater with a bat in seven to 10 days, and he could also return around mid-July.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 18:01:13 -0700 Updating a previous report, the New York Yankees transferred SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list Friday, June 14. He will be eligible to come off the DL July 5.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 15:40:48 -0700 The New York Yankees placed 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain. They placed SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) on the 60-day DL, optioned SP Adam Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and called up RP Chris Bootcheck and 1B Thomas Neal. Fantasy Tip: Expect Reid Brignac to play nearly every day until Youk and/or Derek Jeter (ankle) return. He might run into minimal deep-mixed value, but that's not a safe bet. Neither Neal nor Bootcheck deserves fantasy attention.
Mon, 10 Jun 2013 11:54:12 -0700 New York Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) was able to take 25 dry swings, throw up to 90 feet and field ground balls on the grass Monday, June 10.
Sun, 09 Jun 2013 20:58:14 -0700 New York Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) has resumed rotational exercises at the team's spring training complex in Tampa. He has not played since May 5 due to an oblique injury.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 13:10:46 -0700 New York Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) had a setback with his oblique injury, and there is no timetable for his return. Fantasy Tip: Look for Reid Brignac and Jayson Nix to split time at the 6 until Nunez comes back. Oblique injuries are always tricky, so Nunez shouldn't be expected back any time soon. Brignac and Nix are best suited for AL-only rosters.
Sun, 26 May 2013 20:11:41 -0700 Updating a previous report, New York Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez (oblique) suffered a setback in his rehab from a strained left oblique, and manager Joe Girardi said Sunday, May 26, that Nunez might need to take one to several days off. The manager is uncertain how long Nunez will be shut down.
Sun, 26 May 2013 11:52:36 -0700 New York Yankees SS Eduardo Nunez (rib cage) was shut down after feeling discomfort while taking batting practice Saturday, May 25.
Thu, 23 May 2013 14:36:55 -0700 New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman provided some news on battered players. SP Ivan Nova (triceps, oblique) will probably return to the team after their three-game series at the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend. 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) and RP Joba Chamberlain (oblique) are on track to return a few days later. SS Eduardo Nunez (ribcage) should return by the end of the month.
Mon, 20 May 2013 12:37:52 -0700 New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova (biceps) is throwing an extended spring training game Monday, May 20, and he could be activated from the disabled list after that. SS Eduardo Nunez (rib cage) is "ten days away for us to think about New York," general manager Brian Cashman said. SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) threw in an extended spring game Saturday, May 18, and received strong reviews during the 51-pitch outing. The team is hoping he'll make two more starts Thursday, May 23, and May 28, before beginning an official rehab assignment.
