"Dale Jr. has done everything asked of him," neurosurgeon Dr. Jerry Petty said. "He hasn't had a headache since Oct. 12, and we have not been able to provoke any symptoms since that time. I have informed NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports that he is medically cleared for all NASCAR-related activity."

"I didn't read my emails this morning," Hendrick said. "I spoke too soon. I do apologize. I've been scolded severely. I promise I will keep my mouth shut." Earnhardt will take part in a closed test at a half-mile oval in Georgia Monday, Oct. 22, and he'll be evaluated Tuesday, Oct. 23.

He'll end his streak of 461 consecutive Cup starts, which is the fifth longest active streak.
