Phil Parsons Racing announced Thursday, Feb. 16, that driver Michael McDowell will drive the No. 98 Ford for the entire 2012 Sprint Cup schedule. Gene Nead will serve as the team's crew chief.

Driver Michael McDowell will drive a part-time schedule in the 2011 Sprint Cup season for the newly formed HP Racing team, according to SceneDaily.com. McDowell will be behind the wheel of the No. 66 car. Crew chief Gene Nead will lead the team. McDowell will compete at Daytona, Bristol, Infineon and Watkins Glen.

Lee Spencer, of FOXSports.com reports Gene Nead will serve as the crew chief for Michael Waltrip Racing driver Michael Waltrip and the No. 55 Toyota for the rest of the Sprint Cup season. Former crew chief Bootie Barker will remain with the team as an engineering advisor.

SceneDaily.com reports Gene Nead re-joined Bill Davis Racing this week to lead the team's research and development department. Nead started the 2008 season as the crew chief for the No. 21 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team with Wood Brothers/JTG Racing after spending last season with Bill Davis Racing.
