Stewart-Haas Racing driver Tony Stewart was docked six championship points for failing a post-qualifying inspection for the Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway last weekend. Stewart qualified second but was forced to start 42nd, but then went on to win for the third time this year. Crew chief Steve Addington was fined $25,000 and placed on probation until Aug. 22, and car chief Jeff Meendering was also put on probation.

Updating a previous item, Stewart-Haas Racing announced Monday, Nov. 28, that former Penske Championship Racing crew chief Steve Addington will be joining driver Tony Stewart for the 2012 Sprint Cup schedule.

Penske Championship Racing crew chief Steve Addington, the crew chief for driver Kurt Busch, informed his driver that he will be leaving the organization. Addington is expected to join Stewart-Haas Racing and driver Tony Stewart for the 2012 Sprint Cup season.

Stewart-Haas Racing crew chief Darian Grubb, the crew chief for driver Tony Stewart, is looking for another job after he was told midway through the Sprint Cup race at Charlotte that he would not return to the team next season. Sources are saying that Grubb has been offered a job at Hendrick Motorsports, where he worked for four years as an engineer. He has also been connected to Michael Waltrip Racing and several other teams.

There is speculation that Stewart will hire former Joe Gibbs Racing crew chief Greg Zipadelli to be his director of competition in 2012 and Penske Championship crew chief Steve Addington to be his crew chief.

Lee Spencer, of FOXSports.com, reports free-agent crew chief Steve Addington (Joe Gibbs Racing) has turned down an offer by Richard Petty Motorsports to serve as the crew chief for driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 team in the 2010 Sprint Cup season, according to sources.

David Newton, of ESPN.com, reports Joe Gibbs Racing crew chief Dave Rogers, who works on driver Kyle Busch's Nationwide Series team, will take over as the crew chief in the Sprint Cup Series, replacing crew chief Steve Addington for the final three races of the season. Rogers' first race will be at Texas Motor Speedway next weekend. Addington will be reassigned at JGR.
