Tue, 25 Oct 2011 14:31:53 -0700 Michael Waltrip Racing car Nos. 00, 47 and 56 all had their crew chiefs suspended by NASCAR Tuesday, Oct. 25, due to rule infractions during the Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway. Rodney Childers (No. 00), Frank Kerr (No. 47) and Chad Johnston (No. 56) were each fined $50,000 and have been suspended for the next four races.
Wed, 21 Apr 2010 07:07:02 -0700 Lee Spencer, of FOXSports.com, reports Germain Racing crew chief Bootie Barker, JTG Daugherty Racing crew chief Frank Kerr and Michael Waltrip Racing crew chiefs Pat Tryson and Rodney Childers were all fined after the Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. Barker and Kerr were fined $25,000 each for parts that were not submitted for prior approval and $50,000 each for unapproved ballast weight mounting, according to multiple team sources. Tryson and Childers were fined $25,000 each for parts that were not submitted for prior approval.

NASCAR policy states the crew chief is responsible for the actions of the team.

Frank Kerr, who will be Ambrose's crew chief with Wood Brothers/JTG Daugherty Racing in 2009, will be the crew chief for MWR's last races of the 2008 season.

RGM appealed the penalty and won. Gordon received the points back and moved from 37th to 21st in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings. His crew chief, Frank Kerr, was originally fined $100,000 but his fine was increased to $150,000
Fri, 22 Feb 2008 16:00:23 -0800 Lee Montgomery, of SceneDaily.com, reports Hendrick Motorsports driver and defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson was not surprised to hear that Robby Gordon Motorsports driver Robby Gordon was fined $100,000 and docked 100 driver points for having an unapproved nose on his Dodge during the Daytona 500. However, Johnson can empathize with Gordon. Johnson and Hendrick teammate Jeff Gordon lost 100 points and saw their teams fined $100,000 for altering the fenders to their cars last year at Infineon Raceway. Crew chiefs Chad Knaus and Steve Letarte were also suspended for six weeks, as was Robby Gordon's crew chief, Frank Kerr, for his rules infractions at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR officials vowed last year to issue severe penalties for tampering with its Car of Tomorrow, and Johnson and Gordon were made examples.

"A hundred could be life-threatening to our team," Gordon said before his first practice Friday, Feb. 22. "If this sticks I don't know what our plan will be. I think [IRL and CART are] back together, and I think I can drive one of those cars." Gordon formally issued his appeal to NASCAR Thursday, Feb. 21, arguing that there was no intent to bend the rules and that the part issued was a clerical error by Dodge's distributing warehouse. Gordon was fined 100 driver and 100 owner points for having an unapproved nose cover on his car during the Daytona 500. His crew chief Frank Kerr was fined $100,000 and suspended for six races.
Thu, 21 Feb 2008 10:55:59 -0800 Bob Pockrass, of SceneDaily.com, reports Robby Gordon Motorsports driver Robby Gordon said Wednesday, Feb. 20, that he will appeal the 100-point penalty he received from NASCAR for having an unapproved part on his car during inspections at Daytona International Speedway last week. Gordon will also appeal the $100,000 fine and the six-race suspension to crew chief Frank Kerr. The team stated that the penalty was a bit harsh because the error that cost the team 100 points was not even made by someone on the team. Gordon says a Dodge parts distributor accidentally sent him a Dodge nose that was not yet approved by NASCAR.
