Minnesota Twins SP P.J. Walters will enter the rotation and start Saturday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: The Twinkies obviously felt Kyle Gibson needs more development in the minors in his first full season coming off Tommy John surgery. That makes sense, and we probably won't see him until later this year, if at all. Walters has some experience starting, but should only be looked at in deep AL systems.

The Minnesota Twins optioned SP Vance Worley to Triple-A Rochester Wednesday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: This could open the door once again for a call-up of prospect Kyle Gibson. However, Gibson might need more developmental time in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery, so P.J. Walters is likely a more realistic candidate for promotion. Walters would be an option only for AL-only managers.

Minnesota Twins SPs Kyle Gibson, P.J. Walters and Samuel Deduno are all candidates to start Friday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson easily has the most upside of this group, but the Twins may decide to be cautious with him since it's his first full season since returning from Tommy John surgery. Gibson is the only one of these three that warrants consideration in mixed leagues.

The Minnesota Twins reassigned SP Samuel Deduno (groin) to minor league camp Tuesday, March 26. He has battled a groin injury and will begin the season with Triple-A Rochester. P P.J. Walters was also sent down to the minors.

Minnesota Twins SP Samuel Deduno (groin) has been shut down and will be unable to make his scheduled start Sunday, March 24, because of a groin injury suffered during the World Baseball Classic title game. SP P.J. Walters will start in his place.

Minnesota Twins SP Liam Hendriks (elbow) has been throwing with no issues since late December after having a bone chip removed from his elbow in November of last year. He's on the same throwing program as the rest of pitchers in camp and will throw his second bullpen session Saturday, Feb. 16. Hendriks is working on the alignment in his delivery as he competes for the No. 5 spot in the rotation with SPs Kyle Gibson, Rich Harden, Samuel Deduno, P.J. Walters and Cole De Vries.

The Minnesota Twins re-signed SP P.J. Walters to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Monday, Oct. 29. He is expected to compete to be a starting pitcher next year.

The Minnesota Twins declined to pick up RP Matt Capps' $6 million option for the 2013 season Wednesday, Oct. 24, making him a free agent. Also, Ps Jeff Manship, Luis Perdomo, Esmerling Vasquez, Kyle Waldrop, P.J. Walters and OF Matt Carson were outrighted to the minors.
