Tue, 21 May 2013 19:06:51 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez deleted his Twitter account Tuesday, May 21, and said the decision was a "personal choice" in order to focus more on the team. Manager Terry Francona was supportive. "I don't think I've looked at a Twitter in my life. I don't even know if I know how. But I like his reasoning, so I'm cool with it," Francona said.
Sun, 12 May 2013 15:04:05 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (shoulder) did not pitch in the team's game Sunday, May 12, because he felt mild stiffness in his right shoulder while warming up. He said he will be able to pitch Monday, May 13.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 15:01:59 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (thumb) said X-rays on his right thumb came back negative, and he'll be good to go Monday, April 29. Perez was hit by a comebacker Sunday, April 28. Fantasy Tip: It probably wouldn't hurt to grab Vinnie Pestano, if you have the room, in case Perez suffers a setback or reinjures his thumb.
Mon, 08 Apr 2013 16:37:14 -0700 Cleveland Indians C Carlos Santana (wrist) left the game Monday, April 8, in the ninth inning after RP Chris Perez hit him on the left wrist; Santana appeared to have been crossed up while trying to block the pitch, misjudging a fastball for a breaking pitch. Fantasy Tip: Santana missing time would be a big blow to the Tribe and his fantasy owners. Lou Marson would take his place if so, but he'd be most useful in AL-only setups and only good as a warm body in two-catcher mixed games. Maybe Yan Gomes would be more useful for deep dual-universe owners, but he may not play much if he's summoned from the minors.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 20:58:40 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez nailed down the save in the team's regular season opener Tuesday, April 2, but he wasn't as fortunate Wednesday, April 3. He served up a game-tying solo home run to Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista to blow his first save of the season. Fantasy Tip: Perez made just five appearances during the spring due to a strained right shoulder, and he was pitching on consecutive days for the first time since last season. Perez should be fine, and he isn't in any danger of losing his job. However, if you're really nervous, it isn't a bad idea to stash away Vinnie Pestano if you can afford the roster space, especially in rotisserie formats.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 21:30:59 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (shoulder) was able to answer the bell when called upon for his first save chance of the season Tuesday, April 2, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He allowed a hit with one strikeout, throwing 12 of his 19 pitches for strikes, earning a save. Last season he blew a save, allowing three runs in the ninth inning at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on Opening Day.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 16:23:06 -0700 Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (shoulder) tossed a scoreless inning in his first spring game Tuesday, March 26, since Feb. 26. Manager Terry Francona was extremely encouraged. Fantasy Tip: More positive news for Perez. At this point, he should be fully expected to be ready for opening day as the Tribe's closer.
Sun, 24 Mar 2013 19:15:54 -0700 Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez (shoulder) was happy with his performance in a minor-league game Saturday, March 23, his first game action since Feb. 26. "Great to get out there again. If the season started next week, I'd be ready. What's that? It does start next week?" Perez posted on his official Twitter page.
Sun, 24 Mar 2013 13:22:06 -0700 Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said RP Chris Perez (shoulder) should be ready for the start of the regular season. Perez threw in a minor league game Saturday, March 23, and did not report any pain Sunday, March 24. Fantasy Tip: Owners who have taken Perez in their drafts should be very happy with this news. Perez should be considered as a No. 2 closer because he has been successful in the role in the past.
Sat, 23 Mar 2013 10:44:12 -0700 Cleveland Indians CL Chris Perez (shoulder) is expected to pitch in a Cactus League game Monday, March 25.
