Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez came on and picked up his 14th save Tuesday, May 22, against the Detroit Tigers. He was greeted with cheers, just days after lashing out at fans for booing and lack of attendance. "I got it off my chest and now it's back to playing baseball," Perez said.

Cleveland Indians team president Mark Shapiro spoke Sunday, May 20, defending the fans. It was a damage-control statement after RP Chris Perez ripped the fans Saturday, May 19, for lack of attendance and booing him. "We as an organization clearly disagree with him. We appreciate our fans, we respect our fans. We certainly want more to come and we're working extremely hard to make that happen," Shapiro said.

Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez needed just 10 pitches to pick up his 13th save of the season Saturday, May 19, against the Miami Marlins. After the game, he fired back at fans for their booing. "I was tired of getting booed at home, so I figured, 'I'd better throw some strikes.' You can quote that," Perez said. "Guys don't want to come over there and people wonder why. Why doesn't (St. Louis Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran) want to come over here? Well, because of that."

Perez was given the day off in both ends of the doubleheader Monday, May 7. Perez had allowed just one run over his past 13 outings.
