The Boston Red Sox recalled OF Daniel Nava from Triple-A Pawtucket Thursday, May 10, and are expected to send RP Clayton Mortensen back to Pawtucket. Nava is starting in left field Thursday. Nava was hitting .316 with three home runs and 17 RBIs at Class AAA.

The Boston Red Sox signed Ps Michael Bowden, Drake Britton, Christopher Carpenter, Felix Doubront, Mark Melancon, Clayton Mortensen, Stolmy Pimentel and Junichi Tazawa, Cs Luis Exposito and Ryan Lavarnway, INFs Lars Anderson, Will Middlebrooks and Oscar Tejeda and OFs Ryan Kalish, Che-Hsuan Lin and Darnell McDonald to one-year deals for the 2012 season Friday, March 9. The team will pay all of them the league minimum at $480,000.

The Colorado Rockies have acquired INF Marco Scutaro from the Boston Red Sox, in exchange for SP Clayton Mortensen. The Rockies, who reportedly picked up Scutaro's entire $6 million salary for the 2012 season, are expected to play him primarily at second base.
