The Baltimore Orioles released Ps Tony Butler and Jake Smith Monday, June 14, according to The Baltimore Sun's Dean Jones Jr. Both Butler and Smith were playing for Single-A Delmarva.

MASN.com's Steve Melewski reports Baltimore Orioles P Tony Butler (shoulder) underwent exploratory surgery on his left shoulder, and doctors didn't find any major damage. He'll begin throwing in six to eight weeks.

Roch Kubatko, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Orioles P Tony Butler (arm) was placed on the minor league disabled list with arm tendonitis. He currently plays for Single-A Delmarva. He is hopeful he will only miss two starts at the most.

Updating previous reports, the Baltimore Orioles received OF Adam Jones, RP George Sherrill, minor league P Chris Tillman, P Tony Butler and P Kam Mickolio from the Seattle Mariners, in exchange for SP Erik Bedard, according to the Associated Press.

Updating a previous report, Jeff Zrebiec, of The Baltimore Sun, reports the trade that would send Baltimore Orioles SP Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners is close to completion. According to sources, several key players involved in the deal have undergone physical examinations and the trade is pending the results of those exams. Reportedly, in exchange for Bedard, the Orioles would receive Mariners OF Adam Jones, RP George Sherrill, P Chris Tillman, P Tony Butler and P Kam Mickolio.
