Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Newman is set to become a new father sometime this month, and Kevin Harvick Inc. driver Ron Hornaday will be on standby for the last two Sprint Cup races of the season, according to NASCAR.com's Dave Rodman.

NASCAR.com reports former NASCAR driver Ron Hornaday Sr. died Sunday, Dec. 21, of cancer. Hornaday was a two-time NASCAR West Coast champion. KFFL offers its condolences to Hornaday's family and friends.

Bob Pockrass, of SceneDaily.com, reports NASCAR fined Kevin Harvick Inc. crew chief Rick Ren $5,000 for violating NASCAR rules during opening day inspections Feb. 12. The truck driven by Ron Hornaday had spoiler braces exceeding the maximum one-inch width.
