Ravens | Heap delighted McNair is his QB
Tue, 08 Aug 2006 16:38:00 -0700

The Associated Press reports Baltimore Ravens TE Todd Heap is delighted QB Steve McNair is the team's new starting quarterback. "Todd Heap is going to love playing with Steve, and Steve is going to love throwing to Todd," said former Titans tight end Frank Wycheck, one of McNair's favorite targets during his tenure in Nashville. With McNair everything seems to be setting up well for Heap and a Ravens offense that finished 24th in total offense last season. "I've been watching Steve for a long time and you can see that he does like the tight end, but you can also see that he just goes through his progressions," Heap said. "It's not like he's looking for one guy out there. He's going to hit the open guy. That's really what we need to focus on: taking what the defense gives us, hitting the open guy."

Ravens | Wycheck offers his opinion about McNair
Mon, 05 Jun 2006 14:36:16 -0700

Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times, reports former Tennessee Titans TE Frank Wycheck has offered up his opinion on Titans' QB Steve McNair's situation, and he believes McNair will be joining the Baltimore Ravens. "There's basically no way I could see Steve coming back to Tennessee at this point, not with all that has happened," Wycheck said in a telephone interview. "It's going to be a strange feeling to watch him run into the Coliseum on Nov. 12 with (former Titans) WR Derrick Mason and CB Samari Rolle all wearing that dirty bird on their helmets. It's time to cut ties." The Titans haven't been successful in convincing McNair to restructure a contract that carries a massive $23.46 million salary cap figure and a $9 million base salary. "Steve is big on respect," Wycheck said. "He has a lot of pride as a competitor and a football player. He's a tough son-of-a-gun. This whole thing is very hard on him."

"I'm very excited about this opportunity," said Wycheck, who will start with draft coverage in April. "It's something I've wanted to do and it will keep me close to the game."

Thu, 24 Jun 2004 14:09:20 -0700

Teresa M. Walker, of the Associated Press, reports Tennessee Titans TE Erron Kinney is not entrenched as the starting tight end now that veteran TE Frank Wycheck has retired. The other candidates to replace Wycheck include TEs Shad Meier and rookie Ben Troupe.
