The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans S Tony George, who was out of football in 2001, is trying to land a spot with the team. The Titans have a crowded roster at safety, so George is doing everything he can to catch the attention of the coaching staff. He managed to haul in two interceptions during Monday’s workouts and almost landed a third.

The team's official site reports the Carolina Panthers have released OT Jon Blackman, FB R.J. Bowers, OT Jimmy Cabellos, DT Derrick Chambers, WR Darryl Daniel, C Michael Fair, G Luke Fritz, S Tony George, WR Jermale Kelly, DE Alvin McKinley, LB John Reeves, TE Mike Roberg, WR Kofi Shuck, RB Rahshon Spikes and DE Gillis Wilson.

Panthers | Roster Moves

According to the team's official site, the Carolina Panthers claimed S Tony George off waivers from the New England Patriots and LB Matt Smith off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts. They also waived S Tony Booth, WR Anthony Bright and LB Cameron Saulsby. The team also removed the NFL Europe roster exemption from WR Kofi Shuck.

The team's official site reports the New England Patriots have waived S Tony George and P Dan Hadenfeldt. George, who was moved from free safety to strong safety behind Lawyer Milloy last season, was unable to work himself into the defensive rotation regularly in camp.

The Boston Herald reports New England Patriots G Joe Andruzzi (knee) underwent an MRI on Tuesday and will miss this weekend's game. While his injury isn't believed to be a torn ligament, he could miss the remainder of the season. Grey Ruegamer is expected to start in his place. S Tony George (toe) and DL Greg Spires (leg) missed Wednesday's practice. RB J.R. Redmond (ribs) practiced on Wednesday but wore a red no-contact jersey.
