The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said the team plans to offer one-year tender offers to each of their eight restricted free agents. That would allow the Titans to match any offer from another team or receive compensation in return. The players are: DT Robaire Smith, LBs Frank Chamberlin and Peter Sirmon, S Aric Morris and Bobby Myers, QB Billy Volek, RB Mike Green and TE Erron Kinney.

''I imagine there will be quite a rotation there,'' coach Jeff Fisher said. ''Both have earned a right to play and have been patiently waiting and now they very well may have their opportunity.'' Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin is not buying it. He's preparing his team to face George. Coughlin feels George is going to play whether he's hurt or not.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans newly signed RB Skip Hicks is now with the team and ready to challenge for the team's No. 2 RB slot. Hicks will wear his old college number, 42, for the first time in his NFL career. Hicks passed his physical late yesterday and Coach Jeff Fisher said the plan is for Hicks to be active for tomorrow night's season opener against the Dolphins, even though he hasn't practiced with the team. The team would like Hicks to take over as the No. 2 RB back, but current No. 2 RB Mike Green does not plan to give up the job without a fight. ''They want to bring guys that are going to push me or even be better than me, but I am not trying to let that happen,'' said Green.

''We know what he can do at running back, we want to see him a little more at fullback,'' coach Jeff Fisher said. William Floyd is the only true fullback on the current Titans roster. Mike Green and rookie Dan Alexander are expected to get most of the work at running back in Detroit as Eddie George is expected to sit out.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George emerged from Thursday's pre-season game just fine, according to Coach Jeff Fisher. "We'll see how he is this week," Fisher said. "He's going to get a lot of work on the practice field from a run-game standpoint." The coach added George did not do the things the team wanted him to do physically in the game, but mentally he was fine. Fisher wouldn't rule out George playing at Detroit on Thursday in the final preseason game. With the game on the artificial surface, George probably won't play. RBs Mike Green and Dan Alexander will get most of the work against the Lions.

Jonathon Linton said he is healthy and getting more comfortable by the day. According to the Tennessean, RB Mike Green is expected to get the starting nod for the Tennessee Titans again this weekend during exhibition play. Last weekend, Green started the game while Jonathan Linton was listed as the No. 2 back and rookie Dan Alexander as the No. 3 back. The team may go with Alexander ahead of Linton this weekend. Both Alexander and Linton fumbled on Saturday, but gained 33 yards and 25 yards, respectively.

Paul Kuharsky reports for the Tennessean the Tennessee Titans could be quiet in the NFL Draft when it comes to their offensive backfield. GM Floyd Reese said the Titans like three quarterbacks who aren't big names, but he would not reveal their names. They are not expected to pick a QB unless one falls so far the Titans consider him too good a value to pass up. Currently RB Eddie George is the only running back on the roster, although the team is expected to re-sign recently released RB Mike Green sometime in the future. Reese said the draft does not feature an extensive group that can help the Titans at RB. The team does not have a fullback on its current roster. The GM said he likes two fullbacks in the draft and the team could still re-sign FB Lorenzo Neal released earlier this off-season.

The moves have all been done to open more room under the salary cap. In other news, DL Henry Ford could be a target player for restructuring or release this year. He currently counts $3.08 million against the salary cap this year.

The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans will hold their first on-field work of the off-season when they conduct a three-day passing camp sometime during the first two weeks of April. QB Steve McNair (shoulder) won't be able to throw and the Titans won't have a single running back on the field. RB Eddie George (toe) will not be able to practice and RB Mike Green is heading for NFL Europe. At WR, only Derrick Mason and Chris Sanders will be available. Kevin Dyson (knee) is still not ready to go. QBs Neil O'Donnell and Billy Volek will do the throwing to Mason, Sanders and the tight ends. The Titans have about $875,000 to spend, but they say no free agent signings are imminent.
