Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said Wednesday, Aug. 1, that he expected to meet with OT Jeff Otah (knee), and the injured lineman would undergo a physical. The team can place him on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, activate him, cut him or try to trade him again. A team source said it's unlikely they'll retain him.

The New York Jets are voiding their deal for OT Jeff Otah after the Jets determined that he wasn't healthy enough for their taste. New York was prepared to give up a conditional seventh-round pick for Otah.

New York Jets OT Jeff Otah (knee) said he believes he will be able to pass his physical. Otah has to pass a physical by Tuesday, July 31, to have his trade to the Jets stand. Otah has not participated in practice yet but was able to do pulling and sliding drills on the side.

New York Jets OT Jeff Otah, who failed his first physical with the team after being acquired via trade, said he still expects to be a starter once healthy. Otah has seven days from the time of the trade to pass another physical for the trade to become official. "I expect to be starting when healthy," Otah said. "I feel like I can do some good things for this team."

New York Jets OL Jeff Otah (knee) did not pass his physical Wednesday, July 25, and if he does not pass it in the next week, he might be headed back to the Carolina Panthers. The team placed Otah on the active/physically unable to perform list after failing the physical. He battled knee problems during his tenure with the Panthers, which is why he played just four games over the past two seasons. A league source said the trade was contingent on Otah passing his physical with the team in the next seven days, or he heads back to Carolina.

The Carolina Panthers received a seventh-round pick in the NFL Draft from the New York Jets in exchange for OT Jeff Otah Monday, July 23. The Panthers had previously traded a seventh-round draft choice to the Oakland Raiders to acquire WR Louis Murphy.
