Tue, 21 May 2013 11:04:55 -0700 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (back) was back on the field for voluntary offseason workouts after resting because of a lower-back injury. He was running routes during individual drills. "It definitely feels good to just be out there on the field, even through the little pains I have," Johnson said. "It's getting better every week," he said of the back malady. "They gave me a six- to eight-week thing to even get on the field, and it's only been about three, so I feel good." Fantasy Tip: A healthy No. 13 would be considered a sturdy WR3 in fantasy games.
Wed, 15 May 2013 13:20:59 -0700 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (back) said his strained back is getting better but that he is not sure when he will receive clearance to return to practice. Johnson has sat out the organized team activities this week because the injury but has been able to do things in the weight room. Fantasy Tip: It does not appear like Johnson is dealing with a major injury and has plenty of time to recover before the start of training camp. It does hurt that he is not able to work with the new quarterbacks the team has brought in this season. Johnson probably will be used as a No. 2 wide receiver or a flex option in 2013 because of the uncertainty the Bills have at quarterback.

Mon, 11 Feb 2013 06:06:33 -0800 Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team would ideally like to add a big wide receiver to line up outside allowing the offensive staff to move WR Stevie Johnson inside to the slot where Nix believes Johnson could be an even greater asset to the passing game.
Wed, 23 Jan 2013 07:25:36 -0800 Buffalo Bills GM Buddy Nix said he'd like to see WR Stevie Johnson line up in the slot more next season.
Tue, 22 Jan 2013 10:27:45 -0800 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson wants to see the team bring in another quarterback to give QB Ryan Fitzpatrick some serious competition for the starting job. "Because competition brings out the best in us," Johnson said. "If we went out and got another quarterback, who knows what'll happen? Fitz may still win, or the other guy my win. Let it happen like that." However, Johnson is still confident the team can win with Fitzpatrick at quarterback. Fitzpatrick was ranked 32nd out of 33 quarterbacks this year with a 27.5 completion percentage on passes that traveled at least 20 yards.

He is also one reception away from three straight years of at least 70 receptions, and it would make him only the second receiver in franchise history to reach that feat.
Sun, 16 Dec 2012 19:02:47 -0800 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson had season-highs with eight receptions, 115 yards and one touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Fri, 14 Dec 2012 10:23:39 -0800 Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team would like to add a prominent wide receiver in the NFL Draft next year and move WR Stevie Johnson into the slot. WR T.J. Graham's development has been slow this year, and he started his first game in Week 14. "I think Stevie's a guy that you can play him in the slot or you can play him outside. But we need a big-time outside receiver. T.J. gives us a lot of that, but you still need to get another, bigger guy that can line up out there and catch the ball when he's covered," Nix said.
Sun, 09 Dec 2012 09:53:00 -0800 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) is active for the team's Week 14 contest at home against the St. Louis Rams. Fantasy Tip: This wasn't a shock, but the injury has limited Johnson a little, and Buffalo has shown an inkling to lean on the running game lately. Johnson may still be an OK flex play this week.

Mon, 26 Nov 2012 06:23:11 -0800 Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey will continue to handle playcalling duties despite WR Stevie Johnson lobbying for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to have a bigger role. Gailey said Fitzpatrick has some feedback on calls to a degree, but that role is not about to expand. "Sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn't," Gailey said. "He can go out there and change some things. Depends on the situation and the play and what we are trying to do. And the thing that we are trying to do, sometimes, is run the football - we don't want to change it to a pass. Sometimes we change out of passes to runs, sometimes we change out of runs to passes, depends on what we get." When asked why Fitzpatrick wouldn't be allowed to alter any play he chooses on the field, Gailey cited pass protection schemes and the need to monitor the workload of certain players like RB C.J. Spiller. "There is a lot more to it than just seeing what they do and just callin' a play, there is a bigger picture here ... You are setting up the next play for the next play," Gailey said. "Fitz is good, he is smart, he really is, he is extremely smart and can make adjustments on the field ... but we're doing things today, just like we did them last year and the year before that."
Mon, 26 Nov 2012 05:45:54 -0800 The Buffalo Bills have scored zero or one offensive touchdown in four of their last seven games, and WR Stevie Johnson believes an answer could be allowing QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to call more plays. Johsnon credited Fitzpatrick for calling audibles to more aggressive plays in Week 12. "How I see it, I think we need to let our quarterback call these plays. He's out there on the field. He sees the adjustments that need to be done. I think we just need to let him make adjustments on the go. I think that's the way we can move the ball better," Johnson said. "He did it a little bit in the game, and we moved the ball … He was hitting C.J. (Spiller), getting his run plays, doing the pass plays, and I just think we should do it more often."

Sat, 17 Nov 2012 06:12:41 -0800 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson was frustrated with the offense for not scoring a touchdown in their Week 11 win. The Bills haven't scored an offensive touchdown in two of their past three games and three of their past five games. "I felt like we could've beat them by more points," Johnson said of the 19-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins. "It doesn't really matter because we got the win, but I thought we could've showed how powerful our offense can be."
Wed, 14 Nov 2012 04:25:07 -0800 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson second-guessed why a more experienced wide receiver wasn't targeted on a Week 10 play that ended with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing an interception into the end zone to seal a 37-31 loss. Johnson also came to WR T.J. Graham's defense, saying the rookie receiver shouldn't be faulted for running the wrong route because he had never attempted it in practice. "I don't think it was the wrong play. But just the whole thing leading up to it," Johnson said, noting that he, WR Donald Jones and TE Scott Chandler were more familiar at running the route. "We had people in positions where maybe they shouldn't have been. So who knows what would've happened if it was Donald, me or Scott there. So it's no blame on T.J. at all, because he's never run that route in practice or in a game."

Johnson's groin injury reportedly made a nice rebound Friday, Sept. 7, after sitting out practice Thursday, Sept. 6. He was able to participate in everything the Bills asked him to do, but he officially was listed as limited because he didn't take part in all of the team reps. "I did everything," Johnson said. "I was out there, running routes and full-go with the guys. I think Coach made the right call along with the guys in the training room of sitting me. I guess it will only get better from here. I still have a couple days until game day."

Fri, 07 Sep 2012 10:04:25 -0700 Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 1. Fantasy Tip: Johnson has a good chance to play in the game since he was able to do some things during practice, but owners should pay attention to the inactive list in case he sits. Even if he does play, he could be limited with his injury and has to line up against Darrelle Revis.

Johnson hasn't missed any drills; however, he did admit to feeling soreness in his surgically repaired groin and suspected he'd be following a similar routine all season. "I'll probably be on that like maybe throughout the season because I don't want any 'what if's' while I'm sitting down not doing anything and then I get out there and do something - pop, and there you go with another groin injury," Johnson said.
