Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will see 10 to 15 carries a game in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. Dehner doesn't believe RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has a chance to beat out Hill for the short-yardage role.
Fantasy Tip: Hill is a great RB4 with upside right now.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis is listed as the No. 2 running back on the team's first depth chart. He is listed behind RB Giovani Bernard but in front of RB Jeremy Hill.
Wed, 09 Jul 2014 11:10:51 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Rex Burkhead could compete for one roster spot if the team keeps four running backs on the final roster. RBs Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill and Cedric Peerman appear to be locks for the roster.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill opened organized team activities with the second-team offense, ahead of RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis.
Tue, 27 May 2014 11:22:22 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis may have an uphill battle to make the team this year, according to Bengals.com editor Geoff Hobson. The Bengals will probably only keep four running backs, including Cedric Peerman, who has proven to be very valuable on special teams. After drafting Jeremy Hill, a roster battle may take place between Green-Ellis and Rex Burkhead, who offensive coordinator Hue Jackson likes a lot. Green-Ellis turns 29 in July.
Thu, 22 May 2014 14:38:38 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson wants to implement an up-tempo offense and intends to be heavily committed to the running game to set up the pass. Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth said the team is planning to get as many snaps in as they can.
Fantasy Tip: A more conservative offensive approach will improve the value of Cincy's running backs, with Giovani Bernard standing to have the best fantasy season. BenJarvus Green-Ellis shouldn't be written off just yet, since rookie Jeremy Hill having a fantasy-worthy role isn't a lock. Andy Dalton should become more efficient, but that isn't necessarily a good thing for fantasy value. Ultimately, WR A.J. Green remains the only weapon with consistent appeal.

Many assume that the Cincinnati Bengals drafting of RB Jeremy Hill spelled the end for RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but offensive coordinator Hue Jackson was adamant last week that Hill's selection had no bearing on Green-Ellis' status.
Sun, 11 May 2014 18:23:36 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis' roster spot could be in jeopardy after the team selected RB Jeremy Hill during the draft. The team would save $2.5 million in salary cap space if they release Green-Ellis.
Thu, 06 Feb 2014 09:12:59 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard said he expects a wild playbook from new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson in 2014. "For me and Benny, I think we've done a good job thus far. I think we can continue to keep doing a good job," Bernard said. "We just got to go into it with an open mind, and he's (Jackson) going to create this craziest playbook ever, but it's going to be fun. I'm excited for it." Jackson is expected to move the Bengals to a more ground-and-pound offensive approach including Bernard and RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) is active for the Week 15 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sun, 15 Dec 2013 01:45:05 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals RBs Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard are the first Bengals duo to run for over 600 yards each since 1988, when Ickey Woods and James Brooks helped power Cincinnati to its second Super Bowl. Only once since 1992 have the Bengals had two backs with 160 carries or more in a season, but Green-Ellis and Bernard are on pace to join Kenny Watson and Rudi Johnson as the second duo to accomplish it. In 2007, Watson had 178 carries to Johnson's 170.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (thumb) admitted he has played with a broken thumb since Week 2.
Fri, 08 Nov 2013 10:57:25 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden wants to limit RB Giovani Bernard's workload in the second half of the season in order to keep him fresh and healthy. In the last four games, RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has 60 touches to 52 for Bernard. "To say we're going to give the ball to Gio 25 times each week is kind of unrealistic," Gruden said. "He needs spelling. He needs a bigger back in there like BenJarvus to take 10, 12, 15 carries a game."
Fantasy Tip: Expect the status quo to continue in Cincy as far as touches are split between these two backs. Bernard's currrent workload is enough to make him fantasy-relevant on a weekly basis, but don't expect him to become the bell-cow running back suddenly over the Law Firm.

Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) was removed from the injury report Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fri, 27 Sep 2013 11:25:06 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 27, and is probable for Week 4.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Green-Ellis is a full go for Week 4. Green-Ellis is still technically listed as Cincy's lead back, but expect Giovani Bernard to continue to cut into his workload. Consider the Law Firm a No. 3 RB or flex moving forward.
Thu, 26 Sep 2013 15:27:57 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.
Wed, 25 Sep 2013 13:27:34 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a new injury for the Law Firm, but one that probably isn't very serious. Still, this doesn't help his cause, as Giovani Bernard is expected to start cutting into his share of the workload more often as the season progresses.
Mon, 23 Sep 2013 08:01:03 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 10 rushes for 29 yards and a touchdown in Week 3, while RB Giovani Bernard had 10 carries for 50 yards and a score. Bernard also pitched in four catches for 49 yards.
Fantasy Tip: We feel Bernard elevated himself even more in Week 3, and he has proven to be more effective than Green-Ellis. Bernard has the edge right now in fantasy value. Green-Ellis will still get looks, but his grip on the featured role has vanished.
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 06:49:53 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard's role is expected to grow in the offense. Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said Bernard and BenJarvus Green-Ellis should be closer to a 50-50 split in the coming weeks. Gruden feels more comfortable opening the playbook more now that he knows Bernard can handle pass protection.
Fantasy Tip: We alluded to this earlier in the week, and it looks like Green-Ellis' stock is decreasing. Bernard should be owned in most formats, and he could potentially take over as the featured back before the season ends.
Tue, 17 Sep 2013 06:17:59 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard had eight rushes for 38 yards and a touchdown and also scored on a 27-yard reception in Week 2.
Fantasy Tip: We could start to see Bernard take more action away from BenJarvus Green-Ellis. BGE ran 22 times for 75 yards in Week 2 after amassing 25 yards in Week 1. Bernard is simply too dynamic for the team to ignore at this point.
Wed, 31 Jul 2013 08:47:45 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden hinted before training camp that there might be an equal distribution of carries between RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard, but that is unlikely to happen. The team has been impressed by Bernard, but they're not ready to reduce Green-Ellis' role.
Fantasy Tip: Green-Ellis averaged 92.8 rushing yards per game over the final six regular season games in 2012, and they plan to use him as their closer in games. The plan is contingent upon Bernard producing big plays, especially in the passing game, keeping Green-Ellis fresh for later in contests.
Thu, 25 Jul 2013 11:23:53 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden indicated RBs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard could evenly split carries this season. The team likes Bernard's ability to catch passes out of the backfield.
Fantasy Tip: Green-Ellis got nearly 75 percent of the carries last season but the team is looking for more of a committee approach at running back. Green-Ellis and Bernard should be seen as No. 3 fantasy running backs, but Bernard could have more upside.
Tue, 02 Jul 2013 09:40:22 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals running backs coach Hue Jackson preferred RB Giovani Bernard over RBs Le'Veon Bell, Montee Ball and Eddie Lacy in this year's draft because of Bernard's speed and versatility. Bernard was used as a wide receiver in spring practices, in addition to his rushing duties. "He's so natural catching the ball. He can catch it like a receiver," Jackson said. "I knew he could catch it really well, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could go out there and line up outside and catch balls like some other guys can because he has that skill set."
Fantasy Tip: Bernard is an intriguing fantasy football rookie, and he should steal a decent amount of touches away from BenJarvus Green-Ellis as a change-of-pace back in Cincy's explosive offense. He's worthy of a late-round flier pick as a handcuff to the Law Firm, and Bernard should retain more value in point-per-reception leagues.
Wed, 15 May 2013 16:04:03 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is expected to play a key role in the team's offense this year, and he said he's excited to share the backfield with RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis. "I think it's more so a complementary kind of thing," Bernard said. "I think we are both going to help each other out. I definitely had a chance to talk to him, and he's the leader of that pack, he's the leader of the guys. I'm going to be following his footsteps, so I'm going to do whatever I can to help him. He's going to help me."
Fantasy Tip: Expect both Bernard and Green-Ellis to compete for the primary role in training camp. How much Bernard plays in his rookie season will likely depend on how well he can pass protect. If he earns significant carries, he could be an RB4 in an offense that should be plenty explosive through the air, which will open up running lanes inside.
Mon, 06 May 2013 05:11:06 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis is expected to see the most carries this season. It would also be a surprise if both RBs Bernard Scott and Giovani Bernard made the team.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 10:07:57 -0700
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis said he is in favor of the new rule involving the crown of players' helmets but is not sure how it will be officiated. "I'm all for the safety part of it. I just don't know how they're going to call it," Green-Ellis said. "They're putting a lot on the referees. That's to be played out. That's what the preseason is for and that type of stuff." He said he does not think the rule will impact him much because he does not lead with his helmet while running.
Sun, 24 Feb 2013 14:49:46 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said he believes RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis would be fine with sharing carries with a change-of-pace back. "BenJarvus would probably welcome it," Gruden said. "It takes some carries off of him. Some guys want the ball every single play, but some guys like to get that rest and come out and have that change of pace guy. It would be nice. RB Cedric Peerman proved he could possibly be that guy. He had some big runs against Oakland and other teams. Maybe he'll step up in that role next year."

Tue, 08 Jan 2013 21:00:26 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a good, but not great, season, but offensive coordinator Jay Gruden feels his team lacked a speedy "gamebreaker" at running back. The team would like to find a speed back to complement Green-Ellis, and Gruden points to the draft. "We do probably need some kind of pace-changer, game-changer, speed, some breakaway-type thing," Gruden said.

Wed, 02 Jan 2013 05:35:15 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said the team plans on running the football in their Wild Card playoff game, even if RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring) is out of the lineup. "We're going to prepare to run the ball like we do every week and hopefully BenJarvus is healthy," Gruden said. "He's got a little twinge right now, but it looks like he's going to be fine. It will be important to us ... We have other backs also that can run the ball. We're not going to change our plan at all. It never varies. We have a good run plan going in, but Houston's a good run defense as we all know. It's going to be important to try to force the issue."

Cincinnati Bengals RB Brian Leonard was the team's leading rusher in Week 17 with 10 carries for 34 yards, getting the bulk of the work with RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (hamstring) injured during pre-game warm-ups. If Green-Ellis cannot go in the AFC Wild Card game against the Houston Texans, Leonard and RB Cedric Peerman appear in line to carry the load.

He finished with 25 carries for 118 rushing yards, while adding four receptions for 14 yards. Cincinnati Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 30, and is listed as probable for Week 13.
Wed, 28 Nov 2012 17:10:15 -0800
Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has been pleasantly surprised with RB Cedric Peerman this year as he has become a change-of-pace-back to RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Gruden acknowledged that he gave up on the running game too quickly early in the season thanks to injuries to RBs Bernard Scott (knee) and Green-Ellis (foot). "We did have some question marks, no doubt about it. That was a concern where I kind of aborted the run idea a little bit early in some games when I probably shouldn't have," Gruden said. "Now I'm glad it's going well. A lot more things will open up because of it."
