49ers | San Francisco brings aboard Pierre Garcon

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 16:05:06 -0800

Free-agent WR Pierre Garcon (Redskins) signed a five-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: From the surface, this looks like a downgrade for Garcon's fantasy outlook, as he'll be joining a much inferior offense compared to the one he played with in Washington, but as a 49er, he's easily their best receiver and should see the most targets. Plus, Brian Hoyer could easily provide better quarterback play than what San Francisco had last year, so Garcon just may hang in there with WR3 prospects.

49ers | Pierre Garcon close to deal with 49ers

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:21:56 -0800

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon is close to a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, which would pay him $16 million in the first year, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon was solid with a 79-1,041-3 line last year. He doesn't jump off the page at you, but he's a midrange PPR receiver. Kyle Shanahan was his offensive coordinator in 2013, Garcon's best year, when he had 113 catches for 1,346 yards. He'll be a high-end WR3 in fantasy.

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 05:12:02 -0800

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon is being pursued by the San Francisco 49ers. He's familiar with head coach Kyle Shanahan's system.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon had a 79-1,041-3 solid showing last year. He doesn't jump off the page at you, but he's a midrange PPR receiver.

Redskins | Washington not talking to Pierre Garcon

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 11:48:00 -0800

Impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon (Redskins) hasn't "heard a word" from the Washington Redskins in regards to signing him to a deal prior to the start of free agency.

Fantasy Tip: There are any number of reasons as to why Washington hasn't reached out, the most likely of which is the chaos taking place in the Redskins' front office at the moment. Head coach Jay Gruden said last week he is comfortable with his receiving corps should Garcon and DeSean Jackson leave, and it is looking more and more like that will end up being the case. Even if Garcon ends up signing with a team that will allow him to be the clear No. 1 option, he'll be hard-pressed to be much more than a fantasy WR3.

Redskins | Washington to talk to own FAs at combine

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 12:28:12 -0800

The Washington Redskins have yet to engage in talks with any of their players with expiring contracts - a list that includes impending free agents WR Pierre Garcon, WR DeSean Jackson, TE Vernon Davis, DE Chris Baker. However, multiple sources report the Redskins expect to meet with the representatives of their impending free agents at the NFL Scouting Combine next week.

Fantasy Tip: It's a common practice for front office personnel and player reps to discuss contracts at the combine, although Washington is making an already very long week even longer by handling its business in this manner. Garcon and Jackson are each expected to command at least $9 million in their next contracts, so both players could be on different teams next season. It's a virtual certainty at least one will not come back.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon could fetch $9 million in FA

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 17:00:10 -0800

Impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon is expected to receive offers in the neighborhood of $9 million per year, according to ESPN.com's John Keim.

Fantasy Tip: The Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are among the teams expected to be among the most interested. The price tag would suggest teams view him as a No. 1 receiver, but his best fit would be as a No. 2. It's going to take a bit of a perfect storm in order to break the bank, and he's likely to be no more than a fantasy WR4 regardless of where he lands.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon a hot commodity

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 18:17:23 -0800

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon is expected to be pursued by the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon can still do damage underneath as a possession receiver, and he could be a WR3 in PPR formats if he lands with a decent offense. If he is stuck with a rookie quarterback, he should be viewed more as a WR4.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon wants to remain a Redskin

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 15:45:15 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon said he wants to remain with the team next season.

Fantasy Tip: He also wants to get paid, as he should, after registering his fourth straight season with at least 68 receptions and his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2013. Not only that, Garcon has proven to be very durable, having played in all 16 games in four of his five seasons with Washington. However, the Redskins are notorious for lowballing impending free agents, and if they're not careful, he could wind up with a new club in 2017. At least a handful of teams should be interested.

Redskins | Pierre Garcon hasn't talked to Redskins

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 07:36:27 -0800

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Pierre Garcon (Redskins) still hasn't talked with the Redskins as of Tuesday, Feb. 7, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Garcon had a solid 79-1,041-3 campaign in 2016. He turns 31 in August, but there appears to be tread left on the tires. He's a WR3 or a WR4 in fantasy depending on where he lands.
