St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday, June 6, that the team isn't going with traditional strongside/weakside linebacker designations this season. Instead, they are going with left and right outside linebackers. At this point, LB Alec Ogletree is the left outside linebacker, and LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar is the right outside linebacker.

St. Louis Rams linebackers coach Frank Bush said he didn't know much about LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar before arriving for his new job, but likes what he has seen on game film. "He was a surprise," Bush said. "After going back watching the tape, Jo-Lonn did a good job. He flashed a lot. He was physical. Had a little surliness to him, which I kind of like."

St. Louis Rams LBs Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Mario Haggan are projected as starters on the outside, with Dunbar on the weak side and Haggan on the strong side. LB Rocky McIntosh can play either inside or outside, and LB Josh Hull should provide quality depth. LB Aaron X. Brown will be fighting for a backup job with three undrafted rookies.

St. Louis Rams LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar is expected to start at one of the outside linebacker spots this season. Dunbar said he is most comfortable at middle linebacker but the team is not expected to move LB James Laurinaitis from that spot.
