However, DiNapoli has not returned to the practice field and Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells does not know when he will be able to return. "If he wasn't ready to play in the third preseason game, I don't see how I could do anything but prolong the physically unable to perform [stint]," Parcells said.

DiNapoli first experienced discomfort in the ankle in early June during minicamp, and after undergoing further tests, the injury was revealed. DiNapoli, a full-time starter with the Tennessee Titans last year, has spent time adjusting to the Cowboys' scheme and getting into condition. Parcells said he planned to use him in tandem with starting C Matt Lehr. "I just think they can both make a good contribution, so I'm going to play them," Parcells said. "Gennaro missed the off-season and some of the summer. I think it's important to get him back in game shape and action. I think he's headed that way."

Agent Tony Agnone and Titans general manager Floyd Reese resumed contract negotiations Thursday, July 24, but remained without a deal. The two sides still see eye-to-eye on the length of the contract, even though Agnone said the Titans pitched the idea of a one-year deal instead of a four-year deal. Agnone said he didn't have a problem with that but wants more guarantees in the contract.

The Tennessean reports the agent for Tennessee Titans C Gennaro DiNapoli is pushing for his client’s return to the team. DiNapoli is scheduled to earn a $1 million roster bonus, so he is on the bubble with the team as of now. His agent, Tony Agnone, said he made a proposal to Titans general manager Floyd Reese for a five-year deal that would be more cap friendly to the team. “I think what we have proposed to them is very solid, and Gennaro is a developing guy and he is young,” Agnone said. “I know a lot of people around the league are waiting to see what happens.” The Titans could save some money against the salary cap by converting the roster bonus into a signing bonus.

As an update to previous reports, the Tennessean reports DT Jason Fisk's agent, Josh Wright, said they received a counter-proposal from the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday and it was the first attempt at realistically getting a new deal done. Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said today DT Joe Salave'a will have his shoulder scoped in the next couple of days. QB Steve McNair is going to have his shoulder scoped on Thursday. CB Dainon Sidney is going to require an additional scope on his knee this week. OL Gennaro DiNapoli will have both shoulders scoped as early as this week. DT Jason Fisk will have both elbows scoped and as previously reported, RB Eddie George will have his ankle scoped soon. Fisher expects McNair to be "shutdown" from six-to-eight weeks. He thinks McNair will be participating with 100% arm strength in the May mini-camp. Fisher called George's surgery minor and he expects George will have his best off-season of his career.
