Browns | Gary Barnidge tweaked knee

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 15:40:48 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (knee) tweaked his knee in Week 12 and was limited in his snaps, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge usually plays better with Josh McCown at quarterback, but the knee ailment obviously impacted his play. Barnidge has regressed this season, largely due to erratic quarterback play, and he should be viewed as a TE2 going forward.

Browns | Just one grab for Gary Barnidge

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 20:33:54 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge managed just one reception for 11 yards on three targets in the Week 12 game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge was a Top 10 fantasy tight end in most formats last season, but he has been a complete bust this year. If you have stuck it out with Barnidge in your fantasy league you will need a replacement in Week 13 since he is on a bye.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 14:26:46 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught two passes for 23 yards and one touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has not had a big role in the offense over the last few weeks but did catch his first touchdown of the season in Week 11. He should continue to see a decent amount of targets in the remaining games but probably can be avoided in all leagues.

Browns | Gary Barnidge quiet vs. Dallas

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:31:23 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught three passes for 23 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has been pretty consistent so far this season but could lose some targets with Corey Coleman back in the lineup. Barnidge probably should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Browns | Gary Barnidge targeted seven times

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 19:01:33 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge managed three receptions for 42 yards in the Week 8 game against the New York Jets. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has taken a big step back after his breakout performance last season. Now that Josh McCown is back from injury perhaps Barnidge will re-emerge as a TE1, but treat him more as a TE2 until further notice.

Browns | Gary Barnidge has solid outing

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 13:48:52 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught six passes for 66 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has still not been able find the end zone but has been posting solid numbers no matter which quarterback is throwing to him. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues and has more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Browns | Gary Barnidge officially active

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 09:28:13 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) is officially active for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has caught at least five passes in each of the last three games and has at least 57 yards in each of the games. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Browns | Gary Barnidge will play Sunday

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 06:22:41 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) will play in Week 6's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge was listed as questionable on the most recent edition of the injury report and took part in practice on a limited basis throughout the week. He should be viewed as a low-end TE1 regardless of who the quarterback is.

Browns | Gary Barnidge questionable for Week 6

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 16:14:52 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge was limited during practice all week but should be able to play in Week 6. He has posted decent numbers no matter which quarterback is starting, which makes him a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 18:01:11 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Browns | Gary Barnidge limited

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 14:25:53 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (forearm, hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge should be able to play in Week 6 even though he is limited this week. He has been a solid part of the team's passing game with 236 yards in five games. Barnidge should be a low-end No. 1 tight end no matter who starts at quarterback.

Browns | Gary Barnidge has decent outing

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 15:03:30 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught five passes for 76 yards Sunday, Oct. 9, in a 33-13 loss to the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: With all of the Browns' issues, Barnidge has not been one of them. He has been a strong pass-catching option despite the Browns merry-go-round at quarterback. Barnidge makes a decent TE1 option in certain fantasy matchups.

Browns | Gary Barnidge has decent outing

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 18:48:41 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge picked up five receptions for 66 yards on six targets in the Week 3 overtime loss against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge was drafted as a Top 10 option at his position, but Sunday's game was the first time he resembled a TE1. With a young quarterback with a smaller passing radius, Barnidge should figure in prominently in future weeks.

Browns | Gary Barnidge more involved

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 15:00:54 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught four passes for 37 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge did not catch a pass in Week 1 but did catch four of his five targets this week. He will have a role in the passing game moving forward but may not be a weekly starting option for owners.

Browns | Gary Barnidge headed for big game?

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 21:45:58 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge faces the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, and in two games against Baltimore last season, he caught a combined 15 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. QB Josh McCown started both games.

Fantasy Tip: McCown will be under center this weekend, and while there is no guarantee they can recreate the magic, Barnidge should be treated as a TE1.

Browns | Gary Barnidge has case of drops

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 17:36:08 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge dropped two passes in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He ended up with no receptions or offensive stats.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge was considered a TE1 heading into the season after his huge season in 2015, but this was a giant disappointment for fantasy owners expecting more of the same. He is working with a new QB now, and the drops certainly won’t help increase Robert Griffin III's confidence in him.

Browns | Gary Barnidge on track for Week 1

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 14:44:28 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (hernia) is on track to play in Week 1 at the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Browns tight ends coach Greg Seamon. Barnidge's work ethic was praised by Seamon, who noted Cleveland has a plan to get the tight end ready for opening day.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge is coming off a career year but has to learn a new offense and acclimate to a new quarterback. Don't be quite as excited about him as Seamon seems to be, but there is enough to like to consider the veteran tight end a starter at his position.

Browns | Gary Barnidge may be limited

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:09:02 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (hernia) could be limited for the start of training camp after undergoing hernia surgery in June. He did pass his physical, however.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Barnidge does miss some time during training camp, he should be good to go for the regular season. Barnidge is coming off a breakout season in which he managed more than 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Continue to view him as a TE1.

Browns | Gary Barndige to be ready for camp?

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 16:52:01 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (hernia) said he will be ready for training camp despite undergoing sports hernia surgery last week. Barnidge said he had the surgery when he did so he wouldn't have to miss any time during the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: We'll see if Barnidge's prophecy comes to fruition, but it looks like he'll at least be good to go for the start of the regular season. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, then he'll still be worth TE1 consideration.

Browns | Gary Barnidge undergoes surgery

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 07:31:01 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (hernia) underwent sports hernia surgery Thursday, June 2, and will be sidelined until at least the start of training camp, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation over the next few months to see if Barnidge suffers any setbacks. He likely will be one of the top options in the passing game this season after his career year in 2015 and should be a No. 1 tight end as long as he is healthy.

Browns | Gary Barnidge could set record

Sat, 02 Jan 2016 19:31:57 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge has nine touchdowns this season, and he needs one more to set a new franchise single-season record for touchdown catches by a tight end.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) has been one of the few bright spots for Cleveland this year, and he could close the year on a high note against a Steelers defense that has been vulnerable against the pass.

Browns | Gary Barnidge finds end zone

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:01:34 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught five passes for 84 yards and one touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has become a very consistent tight end for fantasy owners this season and has at least five catches in each of the last four games. He will be facing a solid Seattle Seahawks defense next week but could still be a fine starting option.

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 09:19:12 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) will play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has a favorable matchup versus the 49ers and makes an excellent starting option in FantasyScore. He has at least five receptions and 50 yards in eight of his last 10 games, including 18 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns in his last three contests.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) was limited in practice the entire week but he has a favorable matchup against the 49ers that should make him a solid starting option in FantasyScore. He has 18 receptions for 215 yards and one touchdown over his last three games.

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 11, and is listed as questionable for the Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) was limited during practice the entire week and could have a solid chance to play against the 49ers. Barnidge would have a favorable matchup if he is active and should be a decent starting option in fantasy leagues.

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge's three-year deal is worth $12.3 million with slightly more than $5.5 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) was limited Thursday with an ankle injury. Friday will be a big day for his status prognostications against the San Francisco 49ers this week.

Browns | Gary Barnidge held back Thursday

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 14:55:48 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) was limited in practice with an ankle injury Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is on track to face the San Francisco 49ers and should be a favorite option of Johnny Manziel's as he returns to a starting role. A matchup against the Niners should make Barnidge a pretty safe FantasyScore tight end.

Updating an earlier report, Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge announced on Twitter he signed a multi-year extension Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) was able to play last week and should be ready to play this week against the San Francisco 49ers. He has caught at least five passes in five of his last six games and should be a starting option for owners.

Browns | Gary Barnidge fizzles in second half

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 21:52:03 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge posted seven receptions for 91 yards in the Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge had a strong stat line, but 77 of those yards came before halftime. Once Josh McCown went down with an injury in the fourth quarter, backup Austin Davis didn't target the big tight end once. That's something to follow if McCown is unable to start in Week 13, and the team does not go back to Johnny Manziel.

Browns | More targets for Gary Barnidge?

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 14:33:54 -0800

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge has been targeted on 17% of his routes with QB Josh McCown and just 9% of his routes with QB Johnny Manziel. McCown will start in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: With McCown starting, Barnidge ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) could see an increase in opportunities, particularly near the end zone. Barnidge scored five times with McCown under center and just twice with Manziel starting. Barnidge is definitely worth starting in FantasyScore lineups against the Baltimore Ravens.

Browns | Gary Barnidge plays through pain

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 16:49:20 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (mouth) had a tooth knocked out and needed stiches in his lip at halftime against the St. Louis Rams in Week 7, but he returned to the game and finished with six catches for 101 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Although Barnidge ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) saw his four-game touchdown streak end, he was still one of the main options in the passing game. At this point, he has to be considered one of the best tight end options at FantasyScore on a weekly basis.

Browns | Gary Barnidge likely will play

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 14:46:22 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as probable for the Week 7 game against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) should see his normal workload and will be one of the team's top targets during the game. He will be facing a tough Rams defense but could be a solid starting option for owners.

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) should be able to play after being limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21. He has scored five touchdowns in his last four games and has caught at least six passes in three of those games. Barnidge will be facing a tough St. Louis Rams defense in Week 7 but should still be a starting option for owners.

Browns | Gary Barnidge limited Wednesday

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 15:57:48 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) has been playing out of his mind and is an every-week starter in seasonal leagues. The St. Louis Rams have only allowed one touchdown to tight ends this year, however, so he's a risky play.

Browns | Gary Barnidge scores pair of TDs

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 20:46:26 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge posted three receptions for 39 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 6 overtime loss against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has emerged as a Top 10 option at his position in FantasyScore. He has scored five touchdowns over the past four games, with at least one score in each outing.

Browns | Gary Barnidge keeps rolling

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 18:44:22 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge caught eight passes for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 33-30 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has caught a touchdown in three straight games, and he has at least six catches and 75 yards in all three games during the stretch. He has played his way into TE1 status in seasonal leagues, but he probably isn't a great play at FantasyScore against the Denver Broncos stifling defense in Week 6.

Browns | Gary Barnidge carving out role

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 19:10:31 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge had six catches for 75 yards and a score in a 30-27 loss to the San Diego Chargers in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has 12 catches for 180 yards and two scores over the last two games, and he seems to be developing a report with Josh McCown ($4,700, 9.4% of cap). He is worth a look if you want to save some cap space at the tight end position at FantasyScore.

Browns | Gary Barnidge has giant stat line

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 18:45:05 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge had six receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: It was a career game for the journeyman Barnidge ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), and is proof positive that the Raiders simply cannot handle the opposing tight end. Cincinnati's Tyler Eifert went off against them in Week 1, Baltimore's Crockett Gillmore did it in Week 2 and now Barnidge. Chicago's Martellus Bennett ($6,300, 12.6%) gets his crack in Week 4. As far as Barnidge, it's unlikely he sees this type of production any time soon, and his salary is likely to go up while his production goes down. That's never a good mix.

Browns | Gary Barnidge the starting TE?

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 14:39:25 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge is currently the team's starting tight end, according to head coach Mike Pettine. That means the chances of TE Rob Housler making a big impact are slim. Undrafted TE Emmanuel Bibbs is one to watch, and he saw significant snaps in practice Monday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge has never managed more than 13 catches in a single season, so although he could have a much bigger workload this year, it's hard to imagine him suddenly becoming a big fantasy force. Consider him a weak TE2, especially considering Cleveland's uninspiring quarterback situation.

Browns | Three TEs to platoon for Browns?

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 11:58:30 -0700

Cleveland Browns TEs Gary Barnidge, Rob Housler and Jim Dray could all end up taking over for TE Jordan Cameron, who is now with the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Mike Pettine said the three tight ends provide some diversity and can be used in different ways.

Fantasy Tip: Barnidge and Housler are probably the bigger receiving threats, and thus would be more valuable in fantasy leagues. If a platoon does indeed take form, however, none of them would be worth starting as your every-week tight end.
