The only other potential fullback on the roster, Dan Alexander, is considered more of a halfback than a fullback. Finding a versatile fullback who can block and catch well has become a chore for NFL teams. "It's a tough position to fill," coach Tomn Coughlin said.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George emerged from Thursday's pre-season game just fine, according to Coach Jeff Fisher. "We'll see how he is this week," Fisher said. "He's going to get a lot of work on the practice field from a run-game standpoint." The coach added George did not do the things the team wanted him to do physically in the game, but mentally he was fine. Fisher wouldn't rule out George playing at Detroit on Thursday in the final preseason game. With the game on the artificial surface, George probably won't play. The Associated Press reports the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Tennessee Titans 20-14 Thursday night. Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, who ran just three times, led all rushers with 94 yards and threw for a TD. McNabb's TD pass was a 2-yard toss to WR James Thrash. He was 12-of-21 for 117 yards. Titans RB Eddie George wound up with 11 carries for 27 yards and a fumble. Eagles RB Duce Staley carried seven times for 22 yards and he caught four passes for 42 yards. Titans QB Steve McNair had a 15-yard TD run. Eagles S Brian Dawkins picked up a McNair fumble and ran 88 yards for a TD. Titans QB Chris David Sanders threw a 5-yard TD to rookie RB Dan Alexander. McNair was 18-of-24 for 151 yards with one interception.

According to the Tennessean, RB Mike Green is expected to get the starting nod for the Tennessee Titans again this weekend during exhibition play. Last weekend, Green started the game while Jonathan Linton was listed as the No. 2 back and rookie Dan Alexander as the No. 3 back. The team may go with Alexander ahead of Linton this weekend. With last year's starter Daimon Shelton not likely to return, the Jaguars are aiming at selecting a player in the draft that will be able to help them. They're currently aiming for one in the later rounds, which should be good for them as FBs Heath Evans (Auburn), Dan Alexander (Nebraska), Moran Nooris (Kansas) and Ja'Mar Toombs (Texas A&M) aren't expected to be drafted early. Evans has been projected to go as high as the third round.
