A source said Wednesday, Jan. 15, that the front office of the Detroit Lions is hopeful new head coach Jim Caldwell will retain special teams coach John Bonamego, defensive line coach Kris Kocurek and offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn.

Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports the Detroit Lions likely would promote assistant defensive line coach Kris Kocurek if defensive line coach Bob Karmelowicz decides to retire.

Updating previous reports, the Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans have withdrawn their tender offer to restricted free agent DT Kris Kocurek. He is now an unrestricted free agent.

The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans are expected to sign rookie DT Kris Kocurek to provide depth on the defensive line. To make a roster spot for Kocurek, the Titans will have to place another player on injured reserve. The choices are: WR Justin McCareins (ankle), DT Joe Salave'a (ankle) and DL Robaire Smith (thumb). All three are out for the season, but remain on the roster.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports Seattle Seahawks OT Chris McIntosh was sent to Seattle to have his neck examined after having trouble with a stinger. The team is not sure when he will return. Rookie DE Kris Kocurek was sent off the field early during the morning practice on Tuesday after he became ill. Coach Mike Holmgren did not think it was heat related, but he was taking no chances. With CB Shawn Springs (hamstring) out, CB Willie Williams, was moved to Springs' spot on the left, while Ike Charlton stepped into the starting role on the right side.

SportsLine.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with rookie DT Kris Kocurek, a seventh-round draft selection, on a three-year, $924,000 deal that contains a $28,000 signing bonus. He'll have base salaries of $209,000 (2001), $298,000 (2002) and $389,000 (2003).
