The race was delayed three hours by rain and involved seven cautions. The win moved Smith into the points lead in the series for the first time in his career and for the first time for JR Motorsports.

Driver Regan Smith will start off the season in the No. 51 Guy Roofing Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway. Allmendinger ran four races with the team last season.

Allmendinger share duties in the Sprint Cup Series. Driver Kurt Busch is hoping to drive for the team in the Nationwide Series. Smith will drive at Daytona and possibly seven to 10 Cup races throughout the season. Allmendinger's first race is expected to be at Phoenix.

Allmendinger will drive again in the Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway in the No. 51 car this weekend. Allmendinger has finished 24th and 35th, respectively, in the last two Cup events at Charlotte and Kansas. The decision to keep Allmendinger in the car remains a race-by-race decision, however. Driver Regan Smith, who is filling in for Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. (concussion), could return in two weeks at Texas.

Driver Regan Smith will replace Earnhardt in the No. 88 Chevrolet at Charlotte and Kansas. Earnhardt was injured in the 25-car accident at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend. He'll end his streak of 461 consecutive Cup starts, which is the fifth longest active streak.
