Furniture Row Racing | Regan Smith wins Nationwide race at Talladega

Furniture Row Racing driver Regan Smith won the Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday, May 4. The race was delayed three hours by rain and involved seven cautions. The win moved Smith into the points lead in the series for the first time in his career and for the first time for JR Motorsports.

Phoenix Racing has extended an offer to driver A.J. Allmendinger for the chance to drive at Phoenix International Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and Martinsville Speedway in the 2013 Sprint Cup Series. Driver Regan Smith will start off the season in the No. 51 Guy Roofing Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway. Allmendinger ran four races with the team last season.

Phoenix Racing plans to have driver Regan Smith driver in the Daytona 500 this year and they will have Smith and driver A.J. Allmendinger share duties in the Sprint Cup Series. Driver Kurt Busch is hoping to drive for the team in the Nationwide Series. Smith will drive at Daytona and possibly seven to 10 Cup races throughout the season. Allmendinger's first race is expected to be at Phoenix.

JR | Kasey Kahne to drive in Nationwide Series

JR Motorsports announced Thursday, Jan. 3, that drivers Kasey Kahne and Brad Sweet will split duties in a second full-time Nationwide Series car in 2013. Great Clips will sponsor the ride for 28 races, including 27 among Kahne and Sweet and one for driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Driver Regan Smith will move to the No. 7 car and Earnhardt will drive the No. 88 car in a select number of events.

JR Motorsports announced Thursday, Oct. 25, that driver Regan Smith will have a full-time Nationwide Series ride next year in the No. 5 car. He will make his debut Nov. 17 in the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Smith will also race for Phoenix Racing in the Sprint Cup Series in the final two races.

Phoenix Racing announced Tuesday, Oct. 23, that driver A.J. Allmendinger will drive again in the Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway in the No. 51 car this weekend. Allmendinger has finished 24th and 35th, respectively, in the last two Cup events at Charlotte and Kansas. The decision to keep Allmendinger in the car remains a race-by-race decision, however. Driver Regan Smith, who is filling in for Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. (concussion), could return in two weeks at Texas.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. (concussion) will miss the next two Sprint Cup races with a concussion, which will end his championship chances in 2012. Driver Regan Smith will replace Earnhardt in the No. 88 Chevrolet at Charlotte and Kansas. Earnhardt was injured in the 25-car accident at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend. He'll end his streak of 461 consecutive Cup starts, which is the fifth longest active streak.

Phoenix Racing announced Tuesday, Oct. 9, that driver Regan Smith will replace driver Kurt Busch in the Sprint Cup race this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Smith doesn't have a deal with the team beyond this weekend, though.
