"My right knee is perfect. It feels great. It's the best it's felt in two years and my left knee is not there yet, but it's on its way." Kahne said his left knee swelled up earlier in the season, but it's not a problem now.

People are born with the condition, which is a result of a buildup of fetal tissue. Pain and irritation happens when the person bends their knee. "It hurts all the time," Kahne said. "After I get out of the car, I limp for a while after a race. Some days, it's a lot worse than others where I would limp around. I just wanted to get it taken care of." The surgery would put Kahne out for a maximum of six weeks but said he plans to be recovered by Jan. 1.
