Penske Championship Racing drivers Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano both lost their initial appeals of penalties against them Thursday, May 2. NASCAR upheld the fines, points penalties and suspensions issued for unapproved rear housing parts that were found during post-race inspections of both cars during the April 13 Texas race.
Fantasy Tip: None of these penalties or suspensions will affect Keselowski's or Logano's participation in the Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend or following races, however. If you are considering them for your lineup this weekend, carry on.

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin (back) was injured after a hard crash on the final lap of the Auto Club 400 Sunday, March 24. He was battling Penske Championship driver Joey Logano for the lead at the time. Hamlin will be hospitalized overnight, and a JGR statement said Hamlin "complained of lower back pain" at the track's infield medical center, so he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Fantasy Tip: Hamlin will have two weeks to get better before the Sprint Cup Series moves to Martinsville in his home state of Virginia. Right now it's too early to say if Hamlin will be ready, and what sort of contingency plan there is if he cannot race.
