If sponsorship can be acquired, Allmendinger will be allowed to run at Long Beach to practice for the Indianapolis 500.

Smith will drive at Daytona and possibly seven to 10 Cup races throughout the season. Allmendinger's first race is expected to be at Phoenix.

Allmendinger will drive again in the Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway in the No. 51 car this weekend. Allmendinger has finished 24th and 35th, respectively, in the last two Cup events at Charlotte and Kansas. The decision to keep Allmendinger in the car remains a race-by-race decision, however. Driver Regan Smith, who is filling in for Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. (concussion), could return in two weeks at Texas.
