Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden has been favorably impressed with progress of WR Frank Murphy thus far during training camp, according to Buccaneers.com. "He's catching the ball, he's showing versatility," Gruden said. "He can not only play split end but he can play in our three and four-receiver sets. He's just more acclimated to the offense; he's more instinctive, more comfortable, and he's making more plays because of that. And he's a good blocker."

The Tampa Tribune reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Frank Murphy was involved in a barroom scuffle with a doorman early Sunday, July 11, according to Tampa police. No charges have been filed as of late Sunday. Murphy, who was holding an event for charity Saturday, July 10, attempted to leave with outstanding bills totaling $1,670, which caused an argument with employees, police said. Murphy struck doorman Michael Garvin in the face after a dispute over a tip, according to Garvin, who said he was treated at a local hospital for a gash on the head. Murphy returned later in the night with his attorney to discuss the outstanding bill, police said. Police referred the matter to the state attorney's office after hearing conflicting stories about who had arranged to pay.
