Bears | Eddie Royal to be third starting WR?

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:42:10 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal is expected to be the Bears' third starting wide receiver, according to ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson.

Fantasy Tip: It seems like the ideal situation for the Bears at wide receiver would be to start Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White on the outside with Royal playing in the slot. Royal was a hit or miss player with the San Diego Chargers, but he could end up being an under-the-radar player in PPR leagues.

Bears | Eddie Royal could be returner

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 10:07:44 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal could be a candidate for the kick returner job this season if the coaching staff is comfortable with him in that role.

Fantasy Tip: Royal is expected to have a solid role in the passing game this season, so the coaches may want to look for other players to fill the role. Royal could be a late-round option in fantasy leagues this season since he has played with Jay Cutler earlier in his career.

Bears | Jay Cutler works out with teammates

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:08:19 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler worked out with some of his offensive teammates at Vanderbilt University this week. WR Eddie Royal, WR Kevin White and TE Martellus Bennett were among the players in attendance.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler has had some down performances the last few seasons but should have several weapons to work with this season. Cutler probably is not a starting quarterback in fantasy at this point but could be a solid No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Bears | Eddie Royal working with QB

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 11:27:32 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal said he has been working with QB Jay Cutler this offseason in order to build chemistry. Royal said they have been watching extra film and doing extra work on the field. Royal recorded 91 receptions, 980 yards and five touchdowns when they both played for the Denver Broncos in 2008.

Fantasy Tip: Royal had chemistry with Cutler earlier in his career and will try to resume that chemistry with the Bears. Royal probably will not start for the Bears but should have a solid role in the offense. Royal could be a late-round option in point-per-reception leagues and has the potential to have more value.

Bears | CHI needs group effort at WR

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 16:21:53 -0700

The Chicago Bears will be counting on a group effort from WRs Kevin White, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson to make up for Brandon Marshall's lost production. WR Alshon Jeffery is expected to fully takeover as the No. 1 receiver in Chicago.

Fantasy Tip: Jeffery will enter the 2015 season as a top-5 receiver, while White is almost sure to be over drafted in his rookie season. Royal already has some chemistry with Jay Cutler from his time in Denver, and he should be considered as a sleeper heading into drafts.

Bears | Eddie Royal headed to Chicago

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 20:11:48 -0700

Free-agent WR Eddie Royal (Chargers) is going to sign with the Chicago Bears, a source said Wednesday, March 11. He has familiarity with QB Jay Cutler from their time in Denver, and he also is familiar with members of the coaching staff.

Fantasy Tip: Royal flirted with 1,000 yards while posting several touchdowns in his one season on the receiving end of Cutler passes with the Broncos. He is likely to be a respectable WR3/4 or flex play in the Windy City.

Bears | Eddie Royal to visit Chitown

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 20:15:31 -0700

Free-agent WR Eddie Royal (Chargers) traveled to Illinois Tuesday, March 10, to meet with the Chicago Bears and potentially sign a contract, a league source confirmed. He also played one season with QB Jay Cutler with the Denver Broncos, and Royal posted 91 receptions for 980 yards and five touchdowns that season.

Fantasy Tip: Royal is a proven slot receiver, but he has had some issues staying healthy. He had seven touchdown receptions last season, proving to fantasy owners he still has a little something left in the tank. He would be worth a late-round flier if he lands with Chicago.

Chargers | Jacoby Jones to be kick returner

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:48:34 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Jacoby Jones will primarily serve as the team's kick returner in 2015, but he can also serve a complementary role in the receiving game. The Chargers averaged just 22.2 yards per kick return in 2014 (ranked 22nd in the league) and 8.8 yards per punt return (No. 16 in the league). Jones averaged 10.1 yards per punt return and 27.4 yards per kick return for the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. Jones' signing will allow WRs Keenan Allen and Eddie Royal to focus on receiving duties. The signing could also mean that SD could move on from Royal, who will be an unrestricted free agent next week.

Fantasy Tip: Jones had just nine catches for 131 yards and no touchdowns in Baltimore last year, so he shouldn't be on the radar of any fantasy football owners in 2015. However, his presence in SD could make their defense/special teams unit a bit more attractive.
