Buccaneers.com reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed WRs Jermale Kelly and Darryl Daniel, CBs Corey Chamblin and Corey Ivy, OT Brian Gruber, FB Leroy McFadden, P Tim Morgan, TE Damian Vaughn and DE Ron Warner to future contracts for the 2002 season. The team also announced the official signing of WR E.G. Green (reported here earlier this week).

Chris Harry reports for the Orlando Sentinel the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free agent WR E.G. Green to a two-year contract worth $975,000. He previously played for the Colts. He did not play during the 2001 season.

The Indianapolis Star reports if Indianapolis Colts rookie WR Reggie Wayne (knee) cannot play, the Colts would be down to just three healthy wide receivers this weekend -- Marvin Harrison, Terrence Wilkins and Trevor Insley. The team hasn't ruled out signing another receiver, and former Colts WR E.G. Green could be a possibility. Green was released earlier this year and never caught on with another team.

The Indianapolis Star reports Indianapolis Colts WR E.G. Green is hopeful of playing in tonight's pre-season finale. He has missed the first three pre-season games with a strained calf muscle. Green has been tough to evaluate due to all the time he has missed. Green was more involved in practice this week and he looked good. With roster cuts coming, the Colts may keep only five WRs. A sixth might be kept temporarily if rookie WR Reggie Wayne, recovering from a high ankle sprain, isn't ready for the season opener. Coach Jim Mora is well aware of Green's skills, but he has to be able to stay healthy.

RB Edgerrin James is expected to play for the first time this pre-season. Rookie Safeties Jason Doering and Idrees Bashir, both of whom had head injuries during the week, have been cleared to play. WR E.G. Green (calf injury) will be a game-time decision, as will G Steve McKinney (groin). DT Mike Wells, signed as a free agent this week, could play as many as 30 plays, coach Jim Mora said.

The team thought Gentry had contracted mononucleosis, but determined the culprit was a viral infection in his lungs. WR Troy Albea sustained damage to the MCL in his left knee, but the team will wait to determine his status. WR E.G. Green (calf), RB Kevin McDougal (quadriceps), G Larry Moore (knee), OL Waverly Jackson (knee) and Josh Gentry (illness) all missed practice on Monday. OL Ben Gilbert was not at practice either as he had his hip examined.

Green has battled a list of injuries over his short career, a dislocated elbow, a broken leg, a balky knee, a sore foot. The Colts aren't willing to dismiss the oft-injured Green without taking another long look. The team knows when he's been on the field, he has produced. "As long as I stay healthy, I know I can play the game. It's just a matter of staying healthy," said Green.

The Associated Press reports the Indianapolis Colts have offered the lower tender offer of $512,000 to three restricted free agents -- WR E.G. Green, OT Waverly Jackson and OL Larry Moore. If the team were not to match an offer sheet for Green they would receive a third round draft pick as compensation. Jackson and Moore were undrafted, so they carry no compensation.

Coach Jim Mora said he's had that problem for a couple of weeks now but that he'll be OK. DT Josh Williams (ankle) and WR E.G. Green (knee) both practiced on Wednesday but Mora wasn't overly optimistic either would be available for Miami. Both are listed on the injury report as questionable.
