The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with Ps Sam Demel, Barry Enright, Dan Hudson, Zach Kroenke, Brett Lorin, Wade Miley, Yonata Ortega, Joe Paterson, Bryan Shaw and Michael Zagurski, Cs Konrad Schmidt and Craig Tatum, OFs Cole Gillespie and David Winfree and 1B Paul Goldschmidt on one-year deals. They also renewed the contracts of SPs Josh Collmenter and Ian Kennedy, RP David Hernandez and OF Gerardo Parra. These moves mean that all players on the 40-man roster are now under contract for the 2012 season.

Arizona Diamondbacks OFs Cole Gillespie and David Winfree are hoping to win a spot as a reserve outfielder this spring. OFs Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra, Justin Upton and Chris B. Young are locks. OFs A.J. Pollock and Adam Eaton are on the horizon.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Gerardo Parra worked at all three outfield positions and even played some in the infield during winter ball in Venezuela in the offseason. He could be used occasionally in left field and center field this year.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are working with OF Gerardo Parra to make sure he earns time in center field. OF Jason Kubel was signed to play left and will likely take time from Parra in that spot. When asked how he expects playing time to shake out with Kubel on board, manager Kirk Gibson said he "can't answer" the question. However, he intimated that he wants Parra to find his way into the lineup more often in center field. "I'd like to see him work on center field and be able to play all the positions," Gibson said. "He's very good on each corner. He isn't as good as we think he can be in center field."
