Giants | SF eyeing Cameron Maybin, Gerardo Parra

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 09:51:56 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin and Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra have caught the attention of the San Francisco Giants as they look to upgrade their outfield. Giants outfielders have just 12 home runs all season.

Fantasy Tip: Both Maybin ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Parra ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) are having fine seasons and have made their fantasy owners very happy. Maybin is the more valuable because of his mix of speed and power, but Parra has been a very nice value play on FantasyScore himself with Khris Davis on the DL. Both outfielders would likely lose a little fantasy luster with a move to San Fran and their pitching-friendly home environment. Also, their playing time might become cloudy once Nori Aoki and Hunter Pence return from injury.

Brewers | Gerardo Parra at leadoff against Phils

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:09:11 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra is hitting leadoff against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been very consistent this year (.290-5-21) and has a slash line of .296/.321/.452 with four of his five home runs against right-handed pitching. In the leadoff spot, he has 13 hits in 43 at-bats (.302) with one home run. Against the struggling Harang, it's safe to say that Parra is a nice value pick on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Jean Segura, Gerardo Parra flopped in lineup

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 11:39:42 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura and OF Gerardo Parra were flopped in the lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels Tuesday, June 30. Segura is hitting leadoff and Parra has been dropped to sixth against the left-handed pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Both Segura ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) and Parra ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) have a limited fantasy ceiling tonight against Hamels. Segura is the better option if you're in a gambling mood while hitting atop the order.

Brewers | Ryan Braun out of the lineup

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 08:30:59 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Saturday, June 27. OF Gerardo Parra will start in right field and is batting first, while OF Shane Peterson is starting in left field and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Braun ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should be back soon. Peterson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in seven of his last 10 games, but owners should be able to find better options to use.

Brewers | Jean Segura, Gerardo Parra swap spots

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 11:55:42 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura has been moved to seventh in the batting order against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Wednesday, June 24. As a result, OF Gerardo Parra moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($3,800, 7.6% of cap), who's hitting .317 (26-for-82) with two home runs and five RBI in June, should see a very notable bump in his FantasyScore value while in the leadoff spot today. He's also 2-for-3 with a homer and double in his career against Colon. Parra is a nice choice as a value play. Segura ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) loses some fantasy luster with a move down the lineup, but he's still not a terrible shortstop pick against the struggling Colon.

Brewers | Gerardo Parra steals a bag

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 20:43:05 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra went 1-for-4 with a run and a stolen base during the Brewer's 3-2 win over the New York Mets Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) entered the game on a torrid 25-for-72 run with 10 runs, two home runs, five RBI, three stolen bases and a .877 OPS over his past 18 games. He is locked into everyday at-bats at this point, and he tips the scales in all five categories, albeit none significantly. All said, Parra is a solid source of cap relief at FantasyScore and a solid option in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez out Thursday

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 15:08:59 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is out of the starting lineup Thursday, June 18, against the Kansas City Royals. Gomez recently missed two games due to leg and hip issues, but he rejoined the lineup Wednesday. OF Gerardo Parra will play center field and move into the leadoff spot, while OF Shane Peterson will make the start in left field and bat eighth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Parra ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting for a .280 average against right-handed pitching this season, with three of his four home runs having come against righties. Parra will be a strong FantasyScore play while leading off against RHP Jeremy Guthrie. Peterson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) went 3-for-3 Wednesday, but he has struggled in a small sample size against right-handed pitching. FantasyScore owners will need to find cap relief elsewhere.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez remains out

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:29:14 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (leg) is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Chris R. Young Tuesday, June 16. OF Gerardo Parra will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) should be considered day-to-day at this point, so owners should watch for any updates. Parra ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has picked up seven hits and one RBI in his last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Carlos Gomez scratched

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 14:25:26 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez (leg) was scratched from the starting lineup Monday, June 15, because of right leg tightness. OF Gerardo Parra will start in center field and bat first in the lineup, while OF Shane Peterson is starting in left field and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Gomez ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) will miss more than one game. Parra ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has six hits in his last four games and could be a solid option on FantasyScore. Peterson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .174 this season and should not be an option on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Gerardo Parra enjoying everyday role

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 06:00:10 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Gerardo Parra is 13-for-35 over his last nine games with seven runs, two home runs, three RBI and a 1.021 OPS.

Fantasy Tip: Parra's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) hot stretch is buoyed by a .423 BABIP, and the career .274 hitter will be hard pressed to hit above .280 this season. Still, he is fitting in all over the lineup and returning admirable counting stats. He'll be on the lineup card nearly every day, and he holds enough value to warrant ownership in deep mixed leagues.
