Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick is back practicing with the team for the first time since the end of the preseason, but head coach Jason Garrett isn't ready to commit to any kind of a role for Scandrick in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. Scandrick tested positive for amphetamine use in the offseason, and he started 15 games last year. Garrett said he thought Scandrick looked like he was in good shape after working with a personal trainer during his absence from the team.

The NFL and the Players Association are close to finalizing a new drug agreement that would bring human-grown hormone testing and changes to the marijuana policy. A new deal could result in reduced punishments for Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker and Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick. Players could vote on the new deal as early as Friday, Sept. 12.

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick and FS Jakar Hamilton's suspensions will cost the team a fine of close to $44,000 from the league. Scandrick was suspended for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing policy while Hamilton was suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Updating a previous item, Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick was suspended for the first four games of the regular season after testing positive for MDMA, which is also known as Ecstasy or Molly, according to league sources. Scandrick will lose roughly $1 million through his first four game checks and a signing bonus repayment. He can return to the team Sept. 29 but can participate in all preseason practices and games.
