Phillips wants to re-sign with the team and the Giants would like to bring him back but the two sides have not been able to agree on a salary.

The team could also show an interest in safeties Yeremiah Bell (Jets), Patrick Chung (Patriots), Chris D. Clemons (Dolphins), Craig Dahl (Rams), Louis Delmas (Lions), Abram Elam (Chiefs), LaRon Landry (Jets), William Moore (Falcons), Kenny Phillips (Giants), Glover Quin (Texas) or Jamarca Sanford (Vikings).

The Carolina Panthers might pursue free-agent DT Chris Canty (Giants) and/or impending free-agent SS Kenny Phillips (Giants) this offseason. General manager David Gettleman was the team's pro personnel director when Canty was signed, and Canty went to high school in Charlotte. Gettleman is also familiar with Phillips, the first-round pick of the Giants in 2008.
