Redskins | Josh Doctson to open as backup?

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 17:59:39 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson is likely to open the year as the backup to WR DeSean Jackson and WR Pierre Garcon while WR Jamison Crowder works as the starting slot receiver, according to bear writer John Keim.

Fantasy Tip: Doctson missed some time during minicamp, and Washington's depth at receiver further hurts his chances of making a quick impact. He should be scooped up early in rookie drafts, but he is a late-round flier in standard formats.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson shows up to OTAs

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 10:48:22 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson is with the team for the third week of organized team activities after skipping the first two weeks. His absence wasn't that big of a surprise this year, as Jackson has skipped voluntary practices in previous years.

Fantasy Tip: D-Jax is entering the final year of his current contract and will be looking to have a big year entering free agency. The 'Skins have a bevvy of receiving options for Kirk Cousins, with Jackson being the go-to guy. However, he's more of a deep threat and produces more for owners in standard-scoring leagues as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3.

Redskins | WAS not worried about D-Jax's absence

Tue, 31 May 2016 19:00:39 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson forfeited a $500,000 workout bonus tied to the number of workout sessions he attended, but he has already missed too much time to collect the money. He had to show up for 90 percent of the offseason workouts, which began April 18. Despite his absence, the team is not a concern for the club. Several coaches and team officials have said Jackson knows the offense and is smart, lessening their concerns.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson posted 30 catches for 528 yards and four touchdowns, missing a large chunk of the season due to a hamstring injury. As long as he is in shape and healthy, he is a dangerous WR3/4 or flex fantasy option going forward.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson not at workouts

Wed, 25 May 2016 12:26:22 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson has not participated in voluntary workouts this week, but he has visited the Redskins. Head coach Jay Gruden said Jackson knows what kind of shape he has to be in and does expect him to participate in other voluntary workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson only played in nine games last season, so health will be key for him this offseason and throughout 2016. He's Washington's best deep threat and is still worth consideration as a low-end WR2 in standard leagues.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder to play slot

Tue, 17 May 2016 17:57:24 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder will serve as the Redskins' primary slot receiver in 2016, with WRs Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Ryan Grant also capable of playing in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson and Doctson currently have the most fantasy appeal in Washington, but don't completely disregard Garcon, either. Crowder is a sneaky sleeper candidate after tallying 59 catches for 604 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season, but don't view him as more than a WR5 at best in the Redskins' packed wide receiver corps.

Redskins | Josh Doctson to start eventually?

Sun, 08 May 2016 12:04:27 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson could overtake either WRs Pierre Garcon or DeSean Jackson in the starting lineup at some point in 2016, in the opinion of Rich Tandler of

Fantasy Tip: Garcon would be more likely to yield playing time to Doctson, and, of course, all three will see the field at the same time on occasion. Doctson is one of the more promising rookies this year and should be drafted as a low-end WR3 to high-end WR4.

Redskins | Josh Doctson will play outside

Wed, 04 May 2016 16:58:03 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Josh Doctson will start out as an outside receiver, playing behind WRs DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon, according to offensive coordinator Sean McVay. McVay and head coach Jay Gruden see similarities between Doctson and Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green. "I think that's a great comparison, because you look at a taller, leaner player with great body control and excellent ball skills," McVay said.

Fantasy Tip: It may take some time for Doctons to acclimate to the professional level, but he definitely has a role to play with the Redskins. He could be more of a downfield threat, like a poor man's DeSean Jackson. For now, consider Doctson a WR4 in fantasy land.

Redskins | Washington WRs dilemma ahead?

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 12:03:26 -0800

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson is due $3.75 million and WR Pierre Garcon $7.6 million in 2016 -- the final year in each of their contracts. Each receiver is entering their age-29 season.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson dealt with a hamstring injury for most of the first half of 2015 and was limited to 30 catches -- his worst in eight NFL seasons. Garcon has evolved into much more of a possession receiver for Washington since posting a career-high 113 catches in 2013. With TE Jordan Reed taking on more of a starring role for the Redskins this year and WR Jamison Crowder showing well in his rookie year, the team could opt to move on from Jackson and Garcon at the end of the 2016 season.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson quiet in loss

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 18:43:27 -0800

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (knee) was able to play in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Jan. 10, but he managed just two grabs for 17 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: D-Jax nearly had a touchdown, but it was overturned in the first quarter after review showed he stepped up at the half-yard line. He finished the season banged up, but still has plenty left in the tank heading into 2016. He just needs to get healthy. The good news is Kirk Cousins emerged as a solid quarterback, and that means Jackson could still be an 800-1,000 yard producer with a handful of scores.

Redskins | Probable tag for DeSean Jackson

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 13:27:40 -0800

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (knee) practiced in full all week and is listed as probable for the wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Jan. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is an intriguing FantasyScore commodity with Kirk Cousins peaking for the Redskins at quarterback. Green Bay's secondary could be weakened if Sam Shields does not play, too, so choosing D-Jax for your daily lineups is a solid move.
