Chicago Cubs C Welington Castillo (knee) will need arthroscopic surgery to fix a partial meniscus tear in his right knee, and he won't return again this season. "With proper rehab, it's the type of thing you come back 100 percent from with rehab," president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said. A timetable of four to six weeks of rehab is set for Castillo, and no date is set for his surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Dioner Navarro will likely catch the majority of the remaining games on the schedule.

Chicago Cubs OF David DeJesus (shoulder) has been able to hit and throw in the cages recently, and he thinks he's headed in the right direction. Chicago Cubs C Dioner Navarro hit three home runs in the game Wednesday, May 29, for the first time in his career. He drove in a career-high six runs in the victory over the Chicago White Sox and scored four times. He is the first player in team history to homer three times in a single game since former 3B Aramis Ramirez did it in 2010. Navarro doubled his home run total in the game and raised his average from .200 to .241 in the process.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the epic performance, Navarro will remain the backup in Chicago to Welington Castillo.

Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum and pitching coach Chris Bosio, as well as general manager Jed Hoyer and team president Theo Epstein all feel C Welington Castillo is a building-block type of player. Bosio is particularly impressed with his improvement. "He's come a long way in a short period of time," Bosio said. "He's a very talented guy with the arm, block-ability and throw-ability. His knowledge and aptitude have become a lot better."
Fantasy Tip: Castillo is the team's full-time catcher, and therefore is a decent low-end No. 2 receiver in mixed fantasy leagues, and a Top 10 option at the position in NL-only formats.
