Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 36 of his 47 pass attempts for 381 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in the Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco entered the game with just 11 touchdown strikes over his first 11 games, so no one saw this performance coming. He remains more of a QB2 heading into Week 14 in New England on Monday Night Football despite the big outing.

Ravens | Joe Flacco effective in win

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 13:43:06 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco threw for 234 yards and a touchdown but was picked off once in a 19-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco won't get you flashy numbers like a Drew Brees or Matt Ryan would, but he is effective. Flacco has 2,877 passing yards but only 11 touchdowns, giving him an advantage in yardage leagues. There are better quarterbacks, but Flacco should be on a roster as a backup.

Ravens | Joe Flacco throws for 269 yards, TD

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 17:02:14 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts for 269 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 11 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He also rushed once for six yards.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco took care of the ball and limited his mistakes, but he also failed to carry over the momentum of his three-touchdown game last week against Cleveland. He remains more of a QB2 in most standard fantasy formats heading into Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 30 of his 41 pass attempts for 296 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 28-7 win over the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco had just six touchdowns entering the game, and unless he has a friendly matchup, he is best kept on the bench.

Ravens | Good game for Mike Wallace

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:13:15 -0800

Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Wallace caught four passes for 124 yards, including a 95-yard touchdown catch from QB Joe Flacco, in a 21-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Take away the long score and Wallace's numbers plummet. Still, Wallace is establishing himself as one of Flacco's desired targets, so he should get consideration in fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco gives fans a scare

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 14:04:54 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco broke the protective brace on his left knee in the third quarter Sunday, Nov. 6, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Flacco hopped off the field at the end of a play, and it first looked like Flacco had reinjured his left knee.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco missed just three plays and was 18-for-30 for 241 yards in the team's first win in six weeks. Flacco will have his weak games, but this was a strong performance that merits his QB1 status.

Ravens | Joe Flacco throws two INTs

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 14:36:50 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 25-for-44 for 248 yards and two interceptions against the New York Jets in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has thrown the ball at least 40 times in each of the last six games and has two 300-yard games during that span. He has only two touchdowns in the last five games and should only be considered a No. 2 quarterback in leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco active

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 09:23:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 7 game.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco will be without Steve Smith in Week 7 but will have other weapons to work with in the passing game. Flacco can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues, but most owners should be able to find better options to use.

Ravens | Joe Flacco expected to start in Week 7

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 22:11:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) is expected to start against the New York Jets in Week 7, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco hasn't delivered great numbers this season, and will likely be minus Steve Smith this week. There are numerous superior options out there, but if you were facing a decision of Flacco or someone off waivers you can deploy Joe Cool.

Ravens | Joe Flacco looks sharp in practice

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 18:27:53 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) had "good zip" and "good velocity" in practice Friday, Oct. 21, according to TE Dennis Pitta.

Fantasy Tip: It has been a lackluster season thus far for Flacco, but he could be worth a roll of the dice in DFS formats in Week 7 against the struggling secondary of the New York Jets.

Ravens | Joe Flacco likely will play

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 12:49:25 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) likely will be able to start in Week 7 even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has thrown for at least 250 yards in four of his six games this season but has only five touchdowns during that span. He likely will be with one of his best receivers against the New York Jets and probably should be avoided in most leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco returns to practice Friday

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 12:08:15 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 21, getting in a full session. He's being considered questionable to play in the team's Week 7 game Sunday, Oct. 23, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco sat out the last two days, so this news is definitely encouraging for his Week 7 status. He'll have a salivating matchup opposite New York's weak pass defense, and as long as the former Super Bowl MVP is in there under center, that should bode well for all of Baltimore's key offensive players in fantasy.

Ravens | Joe Flacco returns

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 08:49:01 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 21.

Ravens | Joe Flacco can play without practice

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 09:37:37 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) may be able to play in Week 7 even if he is not able to practice this week, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has missed the first two practices this week and could be a game-time decision for Week 7. He has posted decent numbers this season, but owners in most leagues likely will be able to find better options to use for their starting lineups.

Ravens | Joe Flacco out of practice Thursday

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 08:30:46 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) remains out of practice Thursday, Oct. 20.

Ravens | Joe Flacco optimistic about status

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 11:25:45 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, because of a sore shoulder but said he is optimistic about his status for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Owners can monitor the situation during the week, but Flacco should be in uniform for Week 7. He will be facing a solid New York Giants pass defense but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco out of practice

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 08:32:26 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (undisclosed) is out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: We'll update when more details are known. Flacco has a so-so matchup against the struggling New York Jets in Week 7. He's an iffy bye-week replacement.

Ravens | Joe Flacco tops 300-yard mark

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 17:12:56 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 26 of his 48 pass attempts for 307 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 6 game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco's yardage total was nice, but the lack of touchdowns was maddening for fantasy owners. Flacco has just five touchdown strikes and two scoring runs in six games, including just two TD passes over the past four. He is only worth using in deeper fantasy leagues, as a starter in two-QB leagues and as a bye-week replacement if you're desperate.

Ravens | Joe Flacco has decent game

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 14:55:40 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 30-for-46 for 210 yards and one touchdown against the Washington Redskins in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has thrown for at least 250 yards in three of the five games this season but only has five touchdowns during that span. Flacco should be a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues and can only be used when a No. 1 quarterback is on bye.

Ravens | Joe Flacco just misses 300 yards

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 19:48:53 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 32 of his 52 pass attempts for 298 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 4 game against the Oakland Raiders. He also rushed for a touchdown on a QB sneak from the 1-yard line.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco was a little disappointing from a fantasy perspective considering the Raiders entered last in the NFL by allowing 340.0 yards per game, but he still had a decent stat line. He faces a difficult matchup in Week 5 against Washington, and is only worth a look as a bye-week replacement in most fantasy formats.

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 14:12:09 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 25-for-45 with two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco struggled during the early part of the game but played better as the game went on. He appears to be completely recovered from the knee injury he suffered last season and could be an option in daily fantasy leagues next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ravens | Joe Flacco enjoys facing Cleveland

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 22:53:01 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 2. Over his past seven starts against the Browns he has completed 149 of his 246 pass attempts (60.6 percent) for 1,709 yards (244.1 yards per game) with nine passing touchdowns, three interceptions and three rushing touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is a nice sleeper in deeper fantasy leagues as a low-end QB1 against the lowly Browns, who were picked apart by rookie Carson Wentz for his first NFL win in Week 1. Flacco won't put up elite fantasy numbers, but he'll flirt with 250-275 yards and a pair of scores.

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 09:08:15 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) has missed the first two preseason games but is expected to play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco appears to be on track for the start of the season and probably will see limited work against the Lions. Flacco will have some weapons to work with this season but probably is best as a No. 2 quarterback for fantasy owners.

Ravens | Joe Flacco not at full health

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 12:45:47 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said his surgically repaired knee isn't fully recovered yet, but he did say the knee feels great and he has not missed any practice. Flacco doesn't know if he'll be playing in the Ravens' second preseason game this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco still has a few weeks to get that knee to full health. Even if/when he is fully recovered, he's proven himself as a backup fantasy quarterback. There's no reason to think of him as more than that this year either.

Ravens | Joe Flacco not playing Thursday

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 15:54:27 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) will not play against the Carolina Panthers Thursday, Aug. 11. He could be in action for the Ravens' third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Baltimore will take it easy with their starting passer after he underwent knee surgery this offseason. Even if Flacco is full go when the regular season starts, he has never proven to be worthy of QB1 consideration. Draft him as a bye-week replacement.

Ravens | Joe Flacco happy with practice

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 13:37:41 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said he felt comfortable during practice Thursday, July 28, but wishes he was able to complete more passes. He did not try to run during practice but did move around the pocket. It is not known if he will receive any playing time in the first preseason game or if the team will hold him out until the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco probably will not play much in the preseason but will be ready for the start of the regular season. He will have solid tight ends to work with in 2016 but the wide receiver corps has been struggling with injuries. Flacco should be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:51:05 -0700

Baltimore Ravens OB Joe Flacco (knee) said he will be wearing a brace on his surgically repaired knee during practices and all of the regular season games.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is on track for the start of the regular season and may not receive a lot of work during the preseason. He has played well in previous seasons and should be considered a decent No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco not placed on PUP list

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 12:56:36 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) was not placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list prior to training camp next week.

Fantasy Tip: It's definitely encouraging news for Flacco and the Ravens as Flacco has been recovering from a torn ACL. Flacco is still not worthy of starting fantasy quarterback status even at full health, however. He has not thrown for more than 4,000 yards or 27 touchdowns in any season.

Ravens | Joe Flacco looks like himself

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 12:20:13 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is already throwing like his regular, healthy self, according to WR Kamar Aiken. Aiken said Flacco looked the same as he always has when the caught passes from him for the first time this offseason. "He looks 100% to me," Aiken said. Aiken added that Flacco didn't have any "limp or lags" and that he was surprised Flacco looked as good as he did. "I'm just happy to get him back."

Fantasy Tip: This is certainly good news for Flacco and the Ravens offense heading into training camp. Flacco probably still isn't at maximum health, but it looks like he can get there by the start of the regular season. Even with good health, though, Flacco is comfortably a backup fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco will be ready for first day

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 09:37:28 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said he plans to be practicing on the first day of training camp Thursday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has some better prospects at receiver this year if Steve Smith and Breshad Perriman prove healthy, but the gunslinger has always been a better real life QB than fantasy one. Take him as a serviceable backup and not as a QB1.

Ravens | Joe Flacco has mental hurdle

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 11:10:30 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) doesn't have a problem with running or cutting or doing anything physically in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Flacco's main test is facing the thoughts of getting hit again. "I don't expect to have those kinds of thoughts linger in my head," Flacco said. "But you never know until you get out there and do it again." Flacco is expected to be ready to go for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens will probably take it easy with their starting quarterback for the remainder of the offseason. Even if Flacco is fully healthy when the season starts, he's comfortable in the backup fantasy quarterback conversation.

Ravens | Joe Flacco to work out with teammates

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 16:02:58 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said he plans to work out with some of his teammates over the next month to make sure his arm is strong enough for the work he will receive during training camp. He said he is not worried about his injured knee.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco should be ready for the start of training camp but may see limited playing time during the preseason. He will have some weapons to work with in the passing game and probably should be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco feels good

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 10:57:48 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) doesn't have any tentativeness while running and cutting during practices. However, getting hit in the pocket will be an adjustment, since that's how he suffered the injury. Flacco said he feels good enough to play now if he had to.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco is expected to be fine for training camp and the regular season unless he has a setback. He's been much more valuable as a real-life QB than as a fantasy one, though, in his career. And with a shaky receiving corps again in 2016, he'll likely be best used as a solid fantasy backup yet again.

Ravens | No minicamp for Joe Flacco

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 21:59:09 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is expected to be absent for the team's three-day mandatory minicamp as he continues to rehab his knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: With Flacco sidelined it will be Ryan Mallett seeing valuable reps in the summer. But Flacco is expected to be fine for the start of the regular season and he'll once again be a Top 15 fantasy option at his position. He remains a solid QB2 in most formats.

Ravens | Joe Flacco on track for camp

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 12:15:09 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is making good progress in his recovery and should be able to participate during training camp as long as he does not suffer any setbacks, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco probably will not see a lot of playing time during the preseason but should be fine for the start of the regular season. Flacco has thrown for at least 20 touchdowns in five of his last seven seasons and has 3,600 in six of those seasons. Flacco is not a great fantasy option but should be a solid No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco will miss workouts

Mon, 23 May 2016 17:16:13 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) will miss all of the organized team activities this offseason because he is still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Flacco said he has made big improvements in his recovery, and head coach John Harbaugh said Flacco should be ready for training camp. QB Ryan Mallett will work with the first-team offense during the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco still has a few months to recover from his injury if he wants to be ready for camp. He threw 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions before suffering the injury in 2015 but did throw at least 20 touchdowns in five of his previous six seasons. Flacco probably should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco hasn't been throwing

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 09:23:21 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said he hasn't done much throwing this offseason and has been limited to 15-yard tosses. Flacco acknowledged that he'll need to start throwing soon. He said he has resumed running, though.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco should have more weapons at his disposal in the passing game this year, but coming off a serious knee injury, he's even riskier than ever, and Flacco has never had a high fantasy ceiling at quarterback. He should be considered a fantasy backup, at best.

Ravens | Joe Flacco improving each week

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 12:33:13 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said he's getting better and better each week as he recovers in his rehabilitation form a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Flacco said he believes he's on track for training camp, but he hasn't been given a timetable for a return.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco may be full go by the start of training camp and by the start of the regular season, but he's not close to being a starting fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | Mike Wallace should have 'big role'

Sat, 02 Apr 2016 14:24:27 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Wallace is expected to have a big role in his team's offense in 2016, according to QB Joe Flacco, who added he was excited about the team's offseason additions.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace is 29 and one year removed from a 67-catch, 10-touchdown season with the Miami Dolphins, so it's not asking the world for him to bounce back in a vertical offense led by Flacco and his big arm. Wallace is a fair bet to approach his 2014 numbers in this offense and should be a value pick as a WR3 this summer.

Ravens | Joe Flacco is on schedule

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 11:39:52 -0700

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is right on schedule to be ready for training camp, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Although, Harbaugh did say that the Ravens will see how he feels as the summer approaches.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has a nice arsenal of weapons at his disposal for next season, not to mention a new deal and a reinvigorated knee. Even with all the positive signs, Flacco should still be viewed as a backup fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco confident in knee

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 12:07:31 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) said his rehabilitation from knee surgery is going well. He believes he'll be stronger than ever next season. Flacco underwent surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn medial collateral ligament in early December.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco will be playing with a new deal and a new knee in 2016, not to mention the return of his go-to wide receiver, Steve Smith. Things are looking up for Flacco, but he still hasn't proved to be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback over the course of his career, so don't draft him as such.

Ravens | Joe Flacco deal loaded

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 10:09:31 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco received $66.4 million in new money in his contract extension. The $22.1 million average per year set a record for annual new money, and he'll average just under $21 million per year through the life of the deal.

Flacco will have base salaries of $4 million, $6 million and $12 million the next three years. His 2016 cap number reduces from $28.6 million to $22.6 million. It projects to reduce in 2017 from $31.5 million to $24 million and around $25 million in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco doesn't have a lot to work with on offense, and he's in that QB2 window that could become a low-end QB1 with the right additions around him.

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 07:58:18 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco agreed to a three-year extension Wednesday, March 2, through the 2021 season.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco's supporting cast is pretty questionable right now, and he's a low-end QB1 option that may slip into QB2 territory.

Ravens | Joe Flacco, Baltimore closing on new deal

Sat, 27 Feb 2016 14:15:57 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco and the team are reportedly "close" to agreeing to a new long-term contract.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco's cap number for 2016 is $28.55 million and his cap number for 2017 is $31.15 million, so a deal almost has to get done if Baltimore has any designs of being a player in free agency. Flacco figures to remain a fantasy backup in 2016 but could have an underrated receiving corps if Steve Smith and Breshad Perriman can stay healthy this year and Kamar Aiken can build upon his breakout 2015 campaign.

Ravens | Joe Flacco making progress on deal

Fri, 26 Feb 2016 11:52:30 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco and the Ravens are making progress in talks for a contract extension, but no deal is imminent.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco will get Steve Smith back in the passing game, and promising youngster and deep threat Breshad Perriman should finally make an impact. But Baltimore's receiving corps still leaves a lot to be desired, and Flacco is nothing more than a fantasy backup.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco's agent will meet with the Ravens during the NFL Combine to work on a contract extension. General manager Ozzie Newsome said the Ravens can be very active in free agency without having to get a deal done with Flacco.

Fantasy Tip: The main purpose of a new deal will be to fix Flacco's salary cap number, which is set to jump to $28.5 million this upcoming season. Deal or no deal, though, Flacco should not be considered more than a backup fantasy quarterback.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco's agent will meet with the Ravens this weekend at the NFL combine to discuss a possible restructured deal. If Flacco's contract is restructured it would give Baltimore some breathing room on figuring out how to manage nearly $85 million in cap space from now until 2018.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't long ago that Flacco signed a hefty six-year extension, but the Ravens salary cap is going to be even uglier in the immediate future if his contract isn't restructured. Also for the immediate and foreseeable future, Flacco remains a backup fantasy quarterback.

Ravens | New contract for Joe Flacco soon?

Sat, 20 Feb 2016 11:17:27 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco could restructure his contract before the start of free agency, according to ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley. Flacco has already said he would be willing to do so to give the Ravens more salary cap space. Hensley said the key for restructuring will be to give Flacco more money over the next three years than what he would earn in his current deal.

Fantasy Tip: Flacco has been one of the more underwhelming starting quarterbacks during his NFL tenure. He has shown glimpses of deserving starting fantasy quarterback status, but he may always and forever be a backup fantasy quarterback only worth starting in really good matchups or as a bye-week replacement.

Ravens | Joe Flacco's rehab going well

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 09:21:32 -0800

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (knee) is six weeks removed from surgery to fix two torn knee ligaments, and he said his rehab is "going really well." He's confident that he'll be fully recovered by the start of the regular season in September. "I'm coming along great," Flacco said. "I don't think there is any way I'm not going out there ready to go right away. Don't quote me. But that's just me. I have no timetable. I'm really taking it day by day and getting better and better each week."

Fantasy Tip: After missing a full season for the first time in his career, fantasy owners will be even more down on Flacco than ever before. He doesn't have much to work with in the passing game, either, so his ceiling remains very limited. Continue to consider him a veteran backup for fantasy purposes.
