Panthers | Jonathan Stewart back at practice

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 13:09:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is coming off one of his best games of the season in Week 14 and has five touchdowns in his last three games. He probably should be considered as at least a flex option in standard leagues this week against the Green Bay Packers.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart gets veteran's rest

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 15:34:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 13, as he was resting.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was getting the veteran's mid-week rest, and he certainly earned it going over 100 yards with three touchdowns against a stout Vikings defense last week. Despite the big game he should still be viewed as a RB3 or flex fantasy option against the Packers this week.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart goes bonkers in win

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 14:07:05 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 16 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Not many people predicted this type of production against a stifling Vikings rush defense. Stewart certainly surprised and led many to playoff fantasy wins for those who rolled the dice on him. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 15 against the visiting Packers.

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 12:30:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart has two rushing touchdowns in the last two games but has been held to 45 yards or less in four of the last five games. He has a chance to be a flex option in standard leagues but can also be benched if owners have better options.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart practices

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 12:24:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart continues to receive a solid amount of carries during games and has a touchdown in each of his last two games. He has been held to under 50 yards in six of his last seven games and probably can be avoided in most leagues because of the tough matchup.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 11:33:49 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Anytime Stewart's foot is a concern, there's reason to believe his absence from practice is more than just a veteran's day off. For now, however, owners should probably approach this news as a 30-year-old back getting a day of rest. If he cannot go, rookie Christian McCaffrey would be a solid bet for 20 touches against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart logs 45 yards

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:52:25 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 31-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart will provide an occasional touchdown, but he is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and is a flex option, at best. You may want to avoid him all together against a stingy Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 14.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart struggles in victory

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 18:19:36 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 15 times for just 26 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the New York Jets and he did not have a catch.

Fantasy Tip: If not for the touchdown his fantasy owners would be really salty after this egg-laying. He continues to struggle while Christian McCaffrey has averaged 4.4 yards per carry or better over his past three outings.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart finally logs 100-yard game

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 21:23:36 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart recorded his first 100-yard game of the season, totaling 110 yards on 17 carries in the team's Week 10 triumph Monday, Nov. 13, opposite the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart didn't find the end zone, nor did he have any receiving stats, but his owners won't mind that after this long-awaited breakout performance that could save his season. Up to this point, the 10-year veteran has mostly been a disaster in 2017, but perhaps this huge outing will get him going for the stretch run. In the meantime, he's still just a FLEX option.

Johnson (non-injury), TE Chris Manhertz (concussion), QB Cam Newton (shoulder), WR Curtis Samuel (ankle), RB Jonathan Stewart (toe), OT John Theus (concussion) and OG Trai Turner (knee) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report. Panthers | Jonathan Stewart will be in uniform

Sat, 11 Nov 2017 12:52:13 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 11, and is not on the injury report for Week 10. The Panthers did not hold a practice Saturday, so his practice designation is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart likely will receive his normal workload this week and should lead the team in carries. He has struggled over the last five weeks and can be avoided in fantasy leagues if owners have better options available.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart puts in full practice

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 15:38:33 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was able to take part in a full practice session Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart is likely champing at the bit to get out on the field Monday and show that last week's performance was an aberration. He coughed up two fumbles and coach Ron Rivera had the veteran grab some pine, using Christian McCaffrey more in the run game at J-Stew's expense. Rivera gave Stewart a vote of confidence this week, but he might have a short leash.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart takes part in practice

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 12:00:47 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart has received at least 10 carries in all but one game this season but has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last five games. He also lost two fumbles in Week 9 but probably will receive a similar workload this week. Owners should be able to find better options and can avoid Stewart.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart receives vote of confidence

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 09:01:27 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart remains "a big part of our identity" despite losing two fumbles for the first time in his career in Week 9, according to offensive coordinator Mike Shula.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart hasn't rushed for more than 48 yards or averaged more than 3.4 yards per carry over the last five games, although it doesn't help when he is consistently getting hit in the backfield. Week 9 seem to single a changing of the guard with Christian McCaffrey, who played 82 percent of the snaps and ran for a career-high 66 yards. While Stewart will likely remain involved moving forward, it's difficult seeing him getting enough work behind a poor run-blocking line to be worth in keeping around in fantasy anymore.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart has forgettable day

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 14:19:54 -0800

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran 11 times for just 21 yards and he lost two fumbles in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: With Stewart struggling badly, head coach Ron Rivera leaned upon Christian McCaffrey a lot more with some success. It's uncertain if it's a changing of the guard in Charlotte, or just a temporary situation, but it's a worth monitoring very closely heading into Week 10 against the visiting Dolphins.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart not on injury report

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 12:10:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 3, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart still has an important role in the running game but has not posted great numbers in any game this season. He could be a low-end flex option in deeper leagues but is not a strong starting option.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart takes part in practice

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 11:52:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart recorded his first touchdown of the season last week but was held to under 50 yards for the fourth straight game. He will continue to receive most of the work in the rushing game but should only be a flex option in deeper leagues at this point.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart also limited

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 13:54:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart found the end zone for the first time this season last week, but he still only manage 34 yards on 11 carries. On the season he's right at 3.0 yards per carry and is a non-factor in the passing game. Stewart is merely a desperate flex play.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart gets into end zone

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 13:58:05 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for 34 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but he was mostly contained outside of an 11-yard scamper in the first half. He'll look for better results in Week 9 against the visiting Atlanta Falcons, but treat him more as an RB3 or flex play in most fantasy leagues.

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 16:21:29 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart will continue to receive most of the carries for the Panthers but has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last three games. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues, but owners probably have better options for their starting lineups.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart limited Thursday

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 11:58:20 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart appears to have a solid chance to play in Week 8 and could continue to receive a solid amount of carries if he plays. He has received at least 12 games in six of the seven games in 2017 but has not rushed for more than 68 yards in any game. He can be considered a flex option in deeper leagues because of the number of teams on bye.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart also limited

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 12:16:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart receives his fair share of carries; he simply does not do anything with them. Given 99 carries on the season, Stewart has averaged a measly 3.0 yards per carry and is a non-factor in the passing game. Since there are plenty of byes in Week 8, he's a low, low flex play in deep leagues given the volume of carries.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart stuck in neutral

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 14:50:35 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 14 times for 48 yards in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears and he did not have any receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart hasn't scored a rushing touchdown in seven outings, and he hasn't found the end zone at all since the first outing of the season. He has logged just 65 rushing yards on 40 totes over the past three games and simply cannot be trusted in fantasy right now.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart off injury report

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 15:09:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 20, and has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 7 game with the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart and Christian McCaffrey will divvy up the workload in the Carolina backfield on Sunday, with Stewart acting as the hammer with more carries and McCaffrey catching the ball more out of the backfield. Stewart is a decent RB3 or flex option.

Panthers | Limited practice for Jonathan Stewart

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 11:54:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was held to minus four yards last week but will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game. He could be a possible flex option in deeper leagues, but owners in most leagues should have better options available and can bench Stewart.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart limited Wednesday

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 12:08:25 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart couldn't run through a pile of cotton candy with the way he's been playing this year. His running mate, Christian McCaffrey, is the far superior play in both standard and PPR leagues nowadays. Stewart can keep wasting away on the bench as it's unlikely anyone besides his immediate family members want to trade for him at this point.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart needs more carries

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 19:20:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart needs to be more involved in the offense, according to QB Cam Newton.

Fantasy Tip: Carolina's ground game is a mess right now, and the Panthers are currently tied for 29th in yards per carry. Stewart is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry, and he has 17 rushing yards over the last two games combined. You are better off benching him until he shows signs of life.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart totals negative yards

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:35:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart had eight carries for minus-four yards during the team's Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Stewart was targeted twice in the passing game but did not record a reception.

Fantasy Tip: After gaining just 21 yards on 18 carries in Motown, Stewart went backwards Thursday night, giving him 17 yards on his last 26 carries. The veteran hasn't scored this season and hasn't reached 70 yards in a game. That's a bad combination, and it's ample reason to keep Stewart on your bench until further notice.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 11, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the game Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 12:10:37 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was a limited practice participant Tuesday, Oct. 10, after missing practice Monday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart has done nothing yet to show that he deserves more than flex consideration, especially versus a stout Eagles' rush defense that has Fletcher Cox returning.

Panthers | No practice for Jonathan Stewart

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 14:02:32 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 9. The Panthers did not practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart was held to only 21 yards in the last game but will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game. He will be facing a tough Philadelphia Eagles defense in Week 6 and could be benched if owners have better options.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart goes nowhere fast

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 15:29:07 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 18 times for 21 yards in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions, and he added three grabs for 23 yards on his three targets.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions bottled up the rushing attack of the Panthers, so Carolina went to the air for most of its offensive production. He'll face another tough matchup in Week 6 on Thursday night against an Eagles rush defense which entered Week 4 ranked No. 1 in the NFC, and No. 2 in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart will be fine for Week 4 and should continue receive most of the carries during the game. He has posted at least 57 yards in two of the three games this season but has not found the end zone. He could be a flex option in some leagues but could also be benched if owners have better options.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:36:52 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 12 times for 57 yards in Week 3 against New Orleans and he added one grab for four yards.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners expected much more against a porous Saints defense but Stewart didn't contribute much to point totals. He'll look to rebound in Week 4 at New England, but treat him as more of a low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart given day off

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 12:01:28 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart will be good to go in a great matchup against the New Orleans Saints this week. While he does split playing time with Christian McCaffrey, Stewart deserves RB2 attention in both standard and PPR leagues.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart doesn't do a lot

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:48:58 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 15 times for 40 yards in Week 2 against the Bills and he didn't have a reception on just one target.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart had 15 touches to 12 for rookie Christian McCaffrey, so J-Stew remains the lead dog in Charlotte - but not by much. He should find plenty of open spaces in Week 3 against the visiting Saints, but treat him as a RB3 or flex play in most formats.
