Sat, 23 Feb 2013 11:44:08 -0800 The Carolina Panthers are hoping to keep RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart even though they are $10 million over the salary cap. The team believes they can retain Williams at his scheduled $5 million salary for 2013 and his $8.2 million cap figure.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 12:47:34 -0800 Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart's $1.5 million base salary in 2014 and $2.5 million of his $4.25 million base salary in 2015 are fully guaranteed because he was on the roster three days after the start of the 2013 waiver period. His salary cap figure from 2014 to 2017 will decrease by around $50,000 per season because of his contract restructuring. His 2014 option bonus has dropped from $9 million to $6.875 million because of the restructuring.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 17:58:25 -0800 Updating a previous report, in late January, the Carolina Panthers and RB Jonathan Stewart made a slight adjustment to his five-year, $36.5 million contract extension reached last August, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Stewart was scheduled to make $1 million in fully guaranteed base salary in 2013, and after the renegotiation he will have his base lowered to $715,000 with a $2.5 million signing bonus. The move actually increased his cap number for 2013 from $2.8 million to $3.015 million in 2013. Fantasy Tip: More will be expected of Stewart this season, as the team is not expected to bring back RB DeAngelo Williams. Stewart might re-emerge as a decent RB2 in fantasy leagues in 2013 if he gets a lion's share of the totes in Charlotte.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 10:29:33 -0800 The Carolina Panthers may not be able to bring back both RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart next season, because the team has a lot of salary cap space tied up in their backfield.
Mon, 14 Jan 2013 12:20:27 -0800 Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankles) said he expects a full recovery from the arthroscopic surgery he had on his left ankle last week. Stewart believes the surgery will allow him to rehab both of his ankles during the offseason. He sprained his right ankle twice during the season and suffered a high ankle sprain in the left ankle.
Sat, 12 Jan 2013 06:20:32 -0800 Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) said he underwent arthroscopic surgery Friday, Jan. 11, on his left ankle. Fantasy Tip: Stewart was limited to just nine games this season and had career lows in rushing yards (336), yards-per-carry average (3.6) and rushing touchdowns (one). Stewart should be 100 percent come next season; however, it remains to be seen what the team's offense will look like in 2013. Former offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski is now the head coach in Cleveland, and the team also fired running backs coach John Settle. The Panthers will likely go back to more of a power-running scheme, with backs DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert also on the roster (for now).
Sun, 30 Dec 2012 08:38:01 -0800 The Carolina Panthers have declared C Geoff Hangartner, DL Greg Hardy, LB James Anderson, QB Jimmy Clausen, WR Joe Adams, RB Jonathan Stewart inactive for Week 17.
Fri, 28 Dec 2012 11:01:36 -0800 Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.
Thu, 27 Dec 2012 11:17:23 -0800 Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 27, because he suffered a setback in his return from an ankle injury. Stewart may not play because of the injury.
Wed, 26 Dec 2012 13:09:54 -0800 Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) said he hopes to be able to play Week 17 but head coach Ron Rivera said Stewart is still hobbled.
